Is it ok to bake several pans in the oven at one time?

ANSWER: HI Jan Yes you can bake several pans of batter at once. I do it all of the time. You may have to move them around a little as they bake to help them to bake evenly.

At one time I had the oven you see in the photo above. It is a convection oven. It was great because the air was circulated around and the cakes baked up in about half the time and twice as fluffy. You can fit three times as many cake pans in an oven of that size.

I now use an everyday average oven and can only bake one wedding cake at a time. But that is all I need right now as I don't have to make ten wedding cakes in a weekend anymore. (thank goodness)

The sizes that I can fit are two 14-10-6 inch tins. You will have to measure your oven and see what sizes you can fit. Set your timer for 25 or 30 minutes and check your cakes at this point. If you have a variety of sizes in the oven at once, then check the smaller ones first to see if they are done or close to it.

Then set your timer again for about 10 - 15 minutes and re check. When you do check on them move them around in a circular motion so that they bake evenly. You also might want to switch the cakes around too depending on your oven and if you have hot spots.

Then just continue to keep checking the cakes until a toothpick or knife comes out clean when pushed into the center of the cakes, or when the cakes bounce back when pressed on top with your fingers.
