- Prepare casing soil for milky mushroom, if spawn run is complete, apply casing on spawn run bags.
- Punch 2 mm dia holes uniformly all-round the spawn run bags of Pleurotus ostreatus or remove the bags if Pleurotus sajor-caju mushroom and start ventilation for fruiting. Temperature 25-30°C and 85-90% RH should be maintained at this stage.
- It is a best season for cultivation of paddy straw mushroom (temperature 30-35ºC & RH 85-90%), hence, all operations, i.e. bed preparation / spawning, spawn run and good fruiting are feasible during this period.
- Maintain relative humidity of 85-90% in the growing rooms if cultivating oyster mushroom.
- Harvest Oyster Mushroom crop before water spray and always introduce fresh air after water spray for 1 hour.
- Maintain room temperature as per the specific requirement of oyster mushroom species.
- Spray Chlorothalonil (0.05%) and Deltamethrin (0.01) on the walls and floor for the control of competitors and flies respectively in oyster mushroom growing rooms.
- If oyster mushroom crop is terminating in this month, then clean the rooms spray 2% formaldehyde and keep the rooms closed for 1-2 days. Milky mushroom can now be cultivated in these rooms.
- For Milky mushroom keep the bed temperature between 25-30°C for spawn run and 28-32ºC for cropping.
- In coastal regions, crop of Paddy Straw mushroom can be taken but attention has be given on bed temperature, which should not go beyond 36°C.
- Maintain proper humidity (85-90%) and temperature (22-25°C) in the growing rooms if still cultivating Oyster mushroom.
- Maintain proper hygiene and sanitation in and around the farm to avoid problem of pests and diseases.
- If oyster mushroom crop is terminating during this month, then clean the rooms, spray 2% formaldehyde and keep the rooms closed for 1-2 days. Milky mushroom can now be cultivated in these rooms.
- If milky mushroom is cultivated, try to keep the air temperature between 25-30°C for proper spawn run.
- Apply casing to the milky mushroom bags if spawn run is complete.
- Spray water judiciously on floor, walls and on beds to maintain 85-90% RH, otherwise pinhead of milky mushroom will die.
- In coastal regions, second crop of paddy straw mushroom can be initiated.
- Maintain 85-90% relative humidity in the growing rooms during the cultivation of oyster mushroom.
- Always harvest mushroom before water spray. Provide ventilation after spray of water in oyster crop to avoid bacterial blotch.
- Maintain room temperature as per the specific requirement of oyster mushroom species.
- Spray Chlorothalonil (0.05%) and Deltamethrin (0.01) for the control of competitors and flies respectively in oyster mushroom house.
- If oyster mushroom crop is terminating in this month, then clean the rooms, spray 2% formaldehyde and keep the rooms closed for 1-2 days. Milky mushroom can now be cultivated in these rooms.
- Milky mushroom: keep the temperature between 25-30°C for proper spawn run.
- In coastal regions, it is the right time to cultivate paddy straw mushroom.
- If button mushroom crop is still being produced in seasonal farms, maintain air temperature upto 18°C with 85-90% relative humidity.
- Thoroughly treat the spent mushroom compost of button mushroom with 2% formaldehyde, close all the doors/vents, etc. for 2-3 days and dispose-off far away from the cropping room if the crop was infected with wet bubble/ yellow mould or other competitors.
- Clean the floor of the cropping rooms and the racks with soap water before using for the next crop.
- Make preparations for taking oyster mushroom crop following standard procedure – bags to be kept for spawn run at 25±2ºC.
- Open the bags after 15-20 days of spawn run. Maintain a temperature range of 22-28°C with 85-90% RH for fruiting. It will depend upon the species to be grown.
- Temperature may rise beyond 18°C after mid of February hence try to maintain it below 18°C by frequent spraying of water on floor and side walls of growing rooms during fruiting of button mushroom.
- Maintain less than 1000 ppm CO2level inside the cropping rooms of button mushroom during fruiting.
- Maintain proper hygienic conditions in and around growing rooms/mushroom house.
- Collect wet bubble infected mushrooms, if any, dip in 2% formalin solution and dispose them in a covered pit away from the mushroom house. Cover the infected areas with common salt.
- Spray Decis @ 0.02% or Dicofol @ 0.01% on walls of cropping room if flies or mites infection is there in the cropping rooms.
- Use physical means like yellow light trap/fly catcher if flies are visible.
- Book oyster mushroom spawn.
- Dispose off the used compost bags as soon as the crop is over after spraying with 2% formalin if infection of wet bubble/yellow mould is there.
- Maintain 16-18°C temperature during fruiting in button mushroom growing beds/bags.
- Give proper ventilation in the cropping rooms to maintain 800-1200 ppm of CO2during fruiting/pinhead formation and maintain relative humidity of 80-85% in growing rooms for harvesting quality button mushrooms.
- Ensure proper hygienic conditions in and around growing rooms and spray chlorothalonil @ 0.1% if some mould infection is there.
- Spray Decis @ 0.02% on walls if flies are visible.
- If wet bubble infected mushrooms are visible, collect them at an early stage, dip in 2% formalin solution and dispose off them in a covered pit away from the mushroom house and cover the infected area with common salt.
- Use thiophanate methyl 50 ppm + formalin 500 ppm for substrate sterilization for Oyster Mushroom.
- Spray Decis @ 0.1% if infection of flies is there on walls and surrounding areas.
- Maintain 16-18ºC and 23-24ºC temperature during fruiting and spawn run, respectively and 80-85% RH inside the growing rooms of button mushroom.
- Give ventilation in the cropping rooms to maintain 1000-1500 ppm CO2during fruiting/pinhead formation.
- Maintain hygienic conditions in and around growing rooms.
- Get compost samples analysed for moisture, pH and presence of ammonia, if any, before spawning.
- Maintain proper temperature, humidity and CO2 level inside the growing rooms of button mushroom.
- Provide proper ventilation in the cropping rooms during fruiting initiation and cropping stages.
- Maintain proper hygienic conditions in and around mushroom growing rooms.
- If additional space is available one crop of oyster mushroom can be taken.
- Check the compost quality parameters viz. pH, moisture and ammonia, if within permissible limits then spawn the compost.
- Maintain the requisite temperature (22-25°C) and RH (80-85%) in the cropping rooms for spawn run of button mushroom.
- Keep the doors and windows closed to enhance CO2level (5000 to 10,000 ppm).
- Case the beds with pasteurized casing soil and maintain requisite temperature (22-25°C) and RH (80-85%) for next 7-8 days.
- If rooms are available one crop of oyster mushroom can also be taken.
- Spray less water on the beds of oyster and milky mushrooms, as the humidity in the air is high.
- Maintain 25-30ºC temperature in the Oyster Mushroom cropping rooms.
- Spray Malathion 0.01% and Chlorothalonil on surfaces @ 0.05% at weekly intervals for the control of insects and moulds, respectively.
- If additional huts/rooms are available – prepare for one more crop of Oyster Mushroom.
