Cub Tracks’ there goes the meatloaf (2024)

WELCOME to today’s episode of Cub Tracks news and notes™, a greatest-hits collection of Chicago-style beat writers and bloggers, ground from #Cubs, #MiLB, and #MLB baseball, overheated, steeped in writers’ tears, and then cold-brewed overnight for maximum flavor. No artificial intelligences were deployed, employed, entranced, or embalmed in the commission of this manuscript. However, the editorial we eagerly await the advent of robotic umpires and have already amended the three laws.

No game last night — the contest was pushed back to July 13, where it’ll be part of a day-night double-header. Maddie Lee says that Shōta Imanaga was pushed back to face the Brewers. The Cubs site says Jameson Taillon is starting against the ever-annoying MIles Mikolas.

So it’s mathematically impossible to meatloaf this series, and they might only play one game — Saturday is forecast to be 82 degrees and sunny, with more disrespectful weather coming in on Sunday. I can’t imagine they’ll wait very long on getaway day. As always, we await developments. I predict a split if they play two.

"If I'm being honest I'm pretty surprised by the success that I've had..

I still have a couple pitches that I haven't thrown yet and I'm waiting to pull them out"

Tonight's @IowaCubs game just gave us the very definition of poetic justice.

Wily Peralta throws behind Pete Crow-Armstrong on consecutive pitches, Marty Pevey gets tossed defending his player, and then PCA hits the next pitch a million feet.
