Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 36-40 Saltine Crackers (1 large sleeve)
  • 300 grams Dark Chocolate
  • 1 ½ Tablespoons Easter Themed Sprinkles
  • ¼ cup Spring M&M’s

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F.
  2. Line a 9x13inch baking pan with parchment paper; lightly spray the pan with pan spray so the parchment paper sticks to the pan.
  3. Line the saltine crackers in the baking pan; set aside.
  4. In a medium size pot, melt the butter and sugar together. On low, simmer for approximately 5 minutes. Be sure to constantly stir the mixture so it does not burn on the bottom.
  5. Pour the mixture over the saltine crackers, spread evenly and bake for approximately 5-8 minutes. You want the mixture to be bubbling evenly, over the crackers, if not bake for another minute or two.
  6. Remove from heat and sprinkle the chocolate evenly, over the mixture brown sugar mixture. Let it sit for 2-4 minutes.
  7. Once the chocolate has started to melt, using a spatula spread the melted chocolate evenly and then sprinkle the sprinkles and M&M’s on top.
  8. Let it cool at room temperature for 10-15 then put in the refrigerator to set for approximately 2 hours.
  9. Once the chocolate has set and the sugar mixture is firm, remove from the baking pan and cut into 16-36 pieces.

Notes

  • If the chocolate does not melt, you can place the pan back into the warm oven for a minute to help soften it.
  • To spread the chocolate evenly, I suggest using an offset metal spatula
  • I cut the bars into 16, but they can easily be cut into 36 pieces, because the recipe is very sweet!
  • Keep the bars stored in the refrigerator and remove for a minimum of 20 minutes before serving
  • The bars can be kept in the freezer for if they are made further in advance!
