This fish sandwich made with crispy battered fish is a fish lover’s dream come true! The fish is crispy on the outside, nice and moist on the inside, plus I serve the sandwich with the most delicious homemade tartarsauce. With this easy fish sandwich recipe, you are in for a treat!

Can we just talk about homemade tartar sauce for a minute? It consists of 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, 1 finely chopped baby cucumber pickle (known as dill), half a teaspoon of white vinegar, half a teaspoon of sugar and a quarter teaspoon white pepper. Just mix the aforementioned ingredients together in a bowl and you have delicious, homemade tartar sauce! Tartar sauce goes so well with battered fish and just seafood generally. It is da bomb.

Now that we have our tartarsauce out of the way, let’s talk about our easy fish sandwich recipe.

You guys, some of you may or may not know that I have been under the weather lately. I have been so down with sickness – nasty flu that left me ridiculously weak and almost unable to function. That also means I haven’t been able to cook. So what do you do when you are sick but you still have a family to feed? You make the easiest dinner in the world. Enter easy fish sandwich with Gorton’s Beer Battered Crispy Fillets.

I am proud to say that my family cleared everything! Even my picky 3-year old enjoyed her fish fillets so much. I was so glad because she was getting fish, seafood, nutrients into her body though mama was down. And I didn’t have to sweat to make it happen. So easy and convenient.

To make the fish sandwich, you need hamburger buns or any bread you like, beer battered fish fillets, tartar sauce (see instructions above on how to make this – homemade is best!), tomatoes and lettuce. That’s all. Easy peasy, right?

Start off by cooking those fillets – they only take a few minutes to cook. I heated them in the microwave for a minute then broiled them in the oven for about 5 minutes on each side. They turn out really crispy on the outside!

Then layer your sandwiches – rub the tartar sauce on the bread, add the lettuce, the fish, and the tomato. Then dig in and enjoy!

Isn’t that the easier recipe ever? I love when most of the “cooking” only involves arranging things.

They have a variety of seafood products including the fillets used in this recipe and seafood mac n cheese. I had seafood mac n cheese last night and I was swoon. I literally felt like I was at a five-star restaurant feasting on an appetizer a chef just made. A girl can dream, right? But seriously, it was that good and all I had to do was pop them into the oven to cook for a few minutes.

Ingredients

  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 8 Gorton's beer battered fish fillets
  • 1/2 cup tartar sauce
  • 1 cup roughly chopped lettuce
  • 1 tomato - sliced into circles

Instructions

  • Cook the beer battered fish fillets according to the instructions on the package. I followed the quick method for cooking them so I placed them in the microwave on high for 1 minute then I broiled them in the oven for 5 minutes on each side.

  • Remember to use the broil (not bake) function of your oven if you choose to follow this method.

  • Smear the tartar sauce over one side of the buns then layer with lettuce, the fish fillets and tomatoes. Enjoy!

Notes

1. You could cut corners and use just plain mayonnaise instead of tartar sauce if you want. However, I lovethe flavors of homemade tartar sauce and it goes so well with fish!

2. Other toppings you could add to your sandwich include onions or avocado (I love avocado!)
