Okay I’ve done it! The eggnog white russian is my newest obsession. It sure it.
And it’s all your fault!
When it comes to my Thursday co*cktail posts, I plan them out waaaay ahead of time. Like months. Back in the summer, when I was jotting down ideas for holiday co*cktails, an eggnog white Russian was on the list for this week.
Apparently I couldn’t wrap my brain around it, because as the week got closer and closer, it didn’t sound as appealing to me. Even though I am OBSESSED with eggnog lattes. For some reason, I was thinking that the eggnog white Russian would have to include eggnog, kahlua AND cream. It just seemed WAY too creamy for my liking.
But then!
Last week a few of you mentioned that I had to try an eggnog white Russian. That if I loved eggnog lattes so much, replacing the cream with eggnog in a white Russian was brilliance! That I would absolutely love it.
Um, why hadn’t I thought of it THAT way? You guys save my life.
And you were totally right.
This is a pretty good obsession to have, considering it can only last through December. It’s more limited than, say, pumpkin spice, which hangs around for four months. Eggnog is here for, like, sixish weeks which means we can live.it.up.
So last weekend, I made my first! It was amazing.
And I’ll say it again – I don’t enjoy drinking eggnog. No plain eggnog please. I mean, having a sip or two of regular eggnog (and I do mean a sip) is nostalgic for me. My parents would always bring it out when we were putting up the Christmas tree. But drinking a glass seems nearly impossible.
UNLESS.
Unless it’s mixed with hot or cold coffee. Then I am alllll over it!
It’s not like I even have to say it, but this is one of those heavier co*cktails. It’s not one I would drink before dinner, but if you’re having a fun co*cktail party for the holiday season (p.s. go get my playlist here!), it would be perfect. I love it as an after dinner dessert or treat too.
The eggnog is super thick and creamy so you only need a small glass. And serving it over crushed ice is just delicious. It’s almost like a milkshake of sorts.
A very boozy, festive milkshake. For grown ups! BRB. Making one right now.

Do you think this will do anything weird if you pre-make a batch for a party? Will it separate or worse?
-
Jessica — Reply
i wouldn’t make a big batch before – i think you can mix the kahlua and vodka in a shaker, but i would add the eggnog right before serving. it is just SO thick that it does kind of separate, you know?

This drinks sounds so yummy! Going to have to try it because I’m really not much of an egg nog drinker either. We bought Pretty Dish to give as a gift for the best family voted appetizer that is brought Christmas Eve.
Thank you for your creativity & Merry Christmas!-

Delish! I would not add crushed ice as I felt it watered it down. I like to taste the rich creaminess of the egg nog. Make sure that you use a high quality egg nog.

A pinch of cinnamon on top works well also. Ive been making these during the holidays for years just substituting eggnog for the cream. And if I’m out of kahlua I use Baileys

Can I make a bunch ahead for a party? If so, think it would last a day or two?
