Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes solidified his status as an all-time great with yet another Super Bowl win against the San Francisco 49ers.
The former Texas Tech star won his third Super Bowl in his fourth appearance Sunday, as the Chiefs took down the 49ers 25-22 in overtime at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The win made him one of five quarterbacks in NFL history with three Super Bowl titles.
Moreover, Mahomes and coach Andy Reid leading the Chiefs to four Super Bowls in a five-year span is a feat only achieved by Tom Brady's 2014-18 New England Patriots and Jim Kelly's 1990-93 Buffalo Bills. This season's journey to the Super Bowl is perhaps the most impressive of the five-year run, as Mahomes took down the AFC's top two seeds on the road en route to a matchup with a familiar foe in the 49ers.

How many Super Bowls does Patrick Mahomes have?
Following the Chiefs' 25-22 overtime victory against the 49ers, Mahomes has three Super Bowl victories in four appearances. Super Bowl 58 was his fourth time in the NFL championship game in five years. A win there put the Chiefs quarterback in a premium tier with Brady, Montana, Bradshaw and Troy Aikman as the only starting QBs with at least three Super Bowl rings.

Heading into Sunday's game, Mahomes has a 2-1 record in the Super Bowl, all as starting quarterback. He now has a 3-1 record.
Coincidentally, Mahomes took down the 49ers in his first Super Bowl appearance in 2020, but subsequently fell to Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the following season. In 2023, Mahomes bounced back in dominant fashion against the Philadelphia Eagles to lift his second Lombardi Trophy.

Mahomes has some distance to go if he wants to climb up the ranks of the winningest quarterbacks of all time. Brady is safely in command of that distinction, owning not only the record for most starts in the Super Bowl (10) but also the most Super Bowl wins (seven).
Six quarterbacks have started in at least two Super Bowls and have an undefeated record: Bart Starr, Jim Plunkett and Eli Manning (2-0); Aikman (3-0); Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana (4-0).

How many Super Bowl MVPs does Patrick Mahomes have?
Mahomes earned Super Bowl MVP in each of the Chiefs' wins in 2020, 2023 and 2024. He is one of only three players in NFL history to have received the award three times. Brady (five) and Montana (three) are the other two.
