This vacancy has been created based on interviews with employees to help you get a realistic preview of the job.

    Vacancy

As a Junior Engineer /Naval Architect at C-Job Naval Architects, you are responsible for delivering 2D and 3D drawings and calculations related to ship design that meet the company's standards. Under the guidance of experienced colleagues, you'll gain broad exposure to three core engineering disciplines: mechanical, focusing on designing, developing, and producing machinery on board; structural, centered around analyzing and designing the load-bearing structures of a vessel; and naval, which encapsulates aspects of multiple engineering disciplines applied to the design process, maintenance and operation of marine vessels and structures.

In your quest to hone your skills, you will be actively involved in different projects. You are expected to take ownership of your work, ensuring that your drawings and calculations are ready to be forwarded to the project manager. Depending on your progression, you may also have opportunities to work on projects independently. In the early stages, you are likely to participate in larger projects where there is more guidance and a variety of tasks, which is part of the plan to help you understand what discipline you might want to specialize in.

You will be part of a project team for in-house projects and occasionally you'll be stationed on-site at client's premises, even abroad, offering invaluable exposure and practical learning experiences. Regardless of the project's size or complexity, you will always be assigned a senior engineer who will guide and support your work.

Joining C-Job Naval Architects, you'll collaborate with a multifaceted team on projects across offshore, yacht construction, and dredging sectors. Your role offers a unique opportunity to concurrently work on multiple projects, each unique in its scope and scale. The global reach of C-Job also means you get to collaborate with colleagues from different offices worldwide. This position is not only about growing your technical skills, but also about finding your niche within the fascinating field of naval engineering.

If you have a passion for ships, enjoy working collaboratively to achieve team goals, and find it challenging to constantly iterate and refine calculations in response to evolving requirements, then this is the job for you.

    Firsthand experience

Various departments - mechanical, structural and naval - need the same space for their specific installations, yet the ship's space is limited. What would be your approach?

As a junior engineer, you'll collaborate with various disciplines to devise technical solutions that maximize the use of constrained space on a ship. It involves a cross-disciplinary discussion, where you'd need to balance the requirements of different systems, sometimes sacrificing optimization for overall feasibility. The challenge is to work as a team, harmonizing different needs, and finding the most efficient solution. The real-world experience of this scenario will foster your problem-solving and teamwork skills.

    Growth

A junior engineer, with the added intent of specializing in a discipline such as mechanical, structural, or naval, is advancing to a role as medior/senior engineer. Both 'horizontal' in-depth development as well as 'vertical' development are possible in this progression.
