Is Leonard's bakery worth it? ›

An absolute must! If you only visit one bakery in the world, if you only eat sweets at one place in the world, make it Leonard's. They serve malasadas, which are Portuguese Donuts (I think) filled with custard, fruit and other fillings. They are fantastic!

The Honolulu bakery is a point of interest on at least one island tour. In 2012, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported that the bakery sold over 15,000 malasadas daily, or over 160 million since its opening. Rego Jr. opened a franchise location in Japan's Yokohama World Quarter Shopping Center in December 2008.

It is perhaps the most famous of Hawaii's bakeries, and they even have a place now in Yokohama, Japan. Leonard's Bakery in Honolulu is the undisputed go-to place for malasadas, the most popular Hawaii dessert.
