PADUCAH— Super Bowl Sunday is just a few days away, and local businesses are preparing for the high demand that comes with game day.
Sunday is a time for people to get together and enjoy football, friends, and good food.
With everyone focusing on the game, most people take advantage of food delivery services. Pizza is a fan favorite for game days. According to Forbes, Americans are predicted to purchase 12.5 million pizzas on Super Bowl Sunday this year.
Jeff Tilker is a store manager at Domino's in Lone Oak. He said the Super Bowl is a busy time for the pizza chain.
"Busy. Just—it's going to be crazy. It's going to all hit at one time, and then everybody's gonna watch the game," Tilker said.
Tilker has worked at the chain since 2013. He said the Super Bowl is an excellent day for business because people want to enjoy company at home.
"Our business is based on delivery. We try to make sure we get those pizzas there as hot and fresh and quick as possible. It might take longer, but you're gonna get that great pizza that you always expect," Tilker said.
Game day for the business starts early — when watch parties commence.
"I mean, it's our busiest single day of the year all at one time, and it hits a little bit differently cause normally, you expect business to hit a little bit later. Everybody starts planning early," Tilker said.
Pizza Inn General Manager Ryan Summers said Super Bowl Sunday is busier than other weekends.
"Super Bowl Sunday would be a little bit busier than the usual Sunday. We'll have a very good amount of pick-up orders and deliveries. Phones start ringing. Orders start coming in online. Doordash hop in," Summers explained.
He noticed that over the years, people have strayed away from delivery orders in favor of at-home recipes.
"Super Bowl trend, the traffic has gone down quite a bit compared to what it used to be. I think a lot of people host more Super Bowl parties at home, you know, creating their own dishes, homemade meals, stuff like that," Summers said.
