What is a passing grade in PGCC? ›

Once you arrive, you must complete any required forms and show your photo ID to take the test. Please ensure that you have sufficient time to complete the placement tests. Incoming students taking tests for Reading, English, and Math Readiness may need up to three hours to complete all of them.

Prince George's Community College (PGCC) grants waivers from the placement test based on college-ready SAT scores, allowing students to enroll in college-level, credit courses. A score of 480 or higher on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing test satisfies English readiness, allowing enrollment in EGL-1010.

The Cost of Attendance (COA) represents the estimated student costs for a full-time student for nine months. This is based on a rate of $114 per credit and fees of $47 per credit. Individual course lab fees are not included in the COA. A per semester registration fee of $25 is included.

At most schools, a D is the lowest passing grade. That means students who earn a D or higher receive credit for the course. However, some schools set special policies around D grades.

In college, the grading system is typically divided into five letter grades, A, B, C, D, and F. Each letter grade corresponds with a grade point average (GPA) and a numerical range. You'll usually need to receive a letter grade between A and D to pass a class, often the numerical equivalent of 65 percent or higher.

You can't fail a placement test for college. If you receive a low score, you'll be placed in developmental classes for that subject to help increase your knowledge of the topic before you advance to more rigorous courses.

Test Taking Strategy

Remember that the Placement Test is not a pass or fail test. It is used to PLACE you in the appropriate classes for your level. Simply prepare and do your best. If you are not sure of an answer, try to eliminate one or more of the choices and answer what appears to be the best choice.

Is a placement test hard? Placement tests aren't necessarily hard. These exams primarily cover the Algebra that you learned in high school, so whether or not they are hard depends on how well you did in Algebra.

Average GPA of 2.50 or higher for all courses. ATI TEAS required at time of petition with a minimum preparedness category score of "proficient," and a minimum adjusted individual reading score of 70 percent.

Does PGCC have dorms? ›

PGCC doesn't have dorms.

Students must have a 2.0 GPA to receive a degree/certificate. AAT degree programs require a 2.75 GPA and passing aptitude test scores. (ACT, PRAXIS I) b. If a student is denied graduation due to a low GPA, the student must take courses here at PGCC in order to raise their GPA.
