Where can I park for free at Rutgers, New Brunswick? ›

Free public parking is available at the nearby Rutgers University Public Safety Parking Deck, the entrance of which is located at the intersection of Neilson Street and Elijah's Way, just off Route 18.

Please note that you are not permitted to bring your car to campus until the request process is complete and if approved, the permit has been issued by Transportation and Parking Services (TPS).

Expanded Parking Times

Student daily permit holders can park at the following locations: New Brunswick campus: Yellow Lot located at the Livingston Campus, from 6am to 6pm on weekdays and all other locations assigned to a Livingston Commuter permit. Newark campus: Deck 3 and Eagle East Lot 509A 6am to 6pm on weekdays.

Between 2:30- 8 p.m., service is based on staff availability. Call 612-626-PARK (7275). Service is not available on official University holidays. For official University of Minnesota vehicles, please call Fleet Services directly at 612-625-3033, 7:00 am – 4:30 pm.

Each residence hall has access to laundry facilities that cater to its community. The current cost is $1.50 to wash and $1.50 to dry a load of laundry. Students can pay using quarters or by downloading the Speed Queen application onto their mobile devices.

All eligible New Jersey students can attend Rutgers tuition-free for four years through a combination of university, federal and state financial aid programs.

Princeton is now offering grants covering “100% of tuition, room and board” for students whose families earn up to $100,000, beginning in fall 2023, according to Princeton's Admission and Aid page. Typically, Princeton tuition is over $83,000 per year, according to News 12 New Jersey.

To obtain permit, register vehicle that will be parked on campus prior to arrival. There is no fee for daily permits. Once vehicle is registered, visitors may park in Stadium Drive Garage all day. Additional highlighted parking areas are available Monday through Friday after 4 pm and on weekends.

What happens if you don't pay Rutgers parking tickets? ›

Unpaid parking tickets will result in denial of the right to register a vehicle to park on campus; for students, a hold may be placed on records including transcripts, diplomas and/ or academic registration. Unpaid tickets will eventually be sent to a collection agency to ensure payment.

Residents are not allowed to have a car on campus until their junior year (54 accumulated degree credits or more). All residents are allowed to have cars. Students living on campus must follow the college restrictions of the residence hall in which they live.

On-Street Parking

Current rates are: One to two hours: $2.00.

Day of game parking can be found on the Livingston, College Avenue and Busch (Hoes Lane West) campuses. Parking on game day will be available at Johnson Park across from the SHI Stadium south entrance on River Road. Availability of the Johnson Park lot will be weather dependent and parking costs $40.
