The World's Most Rare and Expensive Condiments (2024)

From the world’s most expensive burger to the largest ever circular pizza that weighed 12 tonnes, there’s no shortage of awe inspiring food to get excited about. When it comes to sauce, spices and seasonings however they get a little less press.

We think that’s wrong. Condiments are the best bit about eating hands down. Don’t @ me.

With this in mind we decided to go on a journey to discover some of the most incredible, rare and interesting condiments in the world. Buckle up, here’s what we found!

Acetaia Di Giorgio - Oracolo Gold cap Balsamic Vinegar

The World's Most Rare and Expensive Condiments (1)

First up some fancy vinegar. Genuine balsamic vinegar requires no less than 12 years to create and is protected under the European Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) framework. Trebbiano grapes grown in the Emilia Romagna area of Italy are harvested and then the squeezed juice, skin, seeds and stems of the grape are boiled over an open fire prior to being put away in wooden barrels.

Gold cap however is aged for 25 years in century old oak barrels. Giving it a deep, concentrated flavour. You can pick up a bottle for the small price of €350.00.

Goldsal - The world’s most luxurious salt

The World's Most Rare and Expensive Condiments (2)

Next is a salt that grace’s the dining tables of royalty as well as the finest hotels in the world.

During the crystallisation process, a very thin coating of salt forms on the surface of the evaporation rafts of a saline solution (brine). Due to thermal contrast, this phenomena occurs between sunset and daybreak in the summer, resulting in little crystals enriched with Magnesium, Calcium, and Low Sodium. This kind of salt, called ‘Fleur de Sel’ is then Mixed with 24K gold to create Goldsal, in their words “an exclusive salt to adorn the finest dining table for an unmatchable and incomparable luxury gourmet and style”.

This bad boy retails for a cool £200 for a small jar.

The True Honey Company - Rare Harvest Manuka Honey

The World's Most Rare and Expensive Condiments (3)

Manuka honey is renowned for its health benefits… as well as it’s price tag, but this next one is another level.

This batch of Manuka Honey, with a limited run of 1000 jars, has the highest MGO/UMF rating in the world. The True Honey Company has bottled honey gathered from the lush surrounds of northern New Zealand, giving it an unrivalled intensity and buttery consistency. They recommend mixing with hot water and drinking every morning to enjoy the plethora of health benefits.

If you want to benefit from its healing powers however, you’ll need to fork out an impressive £1349.00.

Wietsaus - Weed Flavoured Mayo

The World's Most Rare and Expensive Condiments (4)

This next one is less about value and more about originality.

Manneken Pis' weed-flavored mayo is a perfect addition to any munchies-fueled feast. Wietsaus is a weed-flavored sauce that tastes exactly as you would imagine. Flavoured like the magic plant rather than actually containing it, It's a one-of-a-kind product that could only be found in the Netherlands.

Interestingly one of the first ever condiments reviewed by Condimaniac back in 2018 was a gin flavoured mayo. Things seem to have come full circle!

Dave’s Gourmet - White Truffle Marinara Sauce

The World's Most Rare and Expensive Condiments (5)

Dave became a chilli headsstaple with his crazy-hot yet not particularly flavoursome Dave’s insanity sauce.

This rather opulent pasta sauce is handmade in Dave’s kitchen and contains vine-ripened tomatoes, white truffles, and edible gold flakes. Residing in a handcrafted wooden box, this sauce was a limited edition offering only selling for a resectable $1000 per jar.

Marketing ploy or not, you’ve got to respect the effort!

Swamp Dragon - Private Reserve Rum Dragon

The World's Most Rare and Expensive Condiments (6)

No list would be complete without a mental hot sauce! Swamp Dragon's 2nd Edition Private Reserve, was the most exclusive and expensive hot sauce ever developed.

The first iteration was featured on 2 Chainz's TV show, Most Expensive, and in honour of the show's premiere on August 13, 2019, Swamp Dragon's Matt Beeson decided to push the boundaries even further, forging the world's only liquor-based hot sauce with some of the world's most exclusive rum.

Black Tot Rum combines with Swamp Dragon's proprietary blend of premium peppers to create one of the most unique flavour experiences priced at almost $1,300.00 per bottle.

That concludes our list of exclusive condiments. Maybe one day Condimaniac will release something that exclusive, but for now we’ll just focus on being original and giving condiment collectors an experience that lasts in their memory.
