Update audio, cover art, and metadata - Apple Music Provider Support (2024)

Sometimes, items in your digital package may need some refreshing. These updates can be made in iTunes Connect, iTunes Producer, or Transporter.

Update audio

An audio ticket can be opened to replace poorly encoded audio or incorrect audio for a track on an album. You are allowed one open audio ticket for each track on an album at a time. For example, if your album has ten tracks, you can have up to ten audio tickets opened for that album.

Ticketing allows you to attach your new audio file to the ticket and send it directly to Apple for replacement. See Music Audio Source Profile in the iTunes Video and Audio Asset Guide for information on supported audio formats.

Replace audio

  1. In iTunes Connect, click My Music.
  2. Search for the album with the track you want to update.
  3. From the search results, click on the magnifying glass in the View Album Details column.
  4. Scroll to the track you want to update and click the icon in the Replace Audio column.
  5. On the Replace Audio page, attach a new audio file to the ticket and click Submit. Ensure that the new audio file meets the audio file requirements stated on iTunes Connect.
  6. After submission, you’ll receive a ticket number for reference.

You can also replace audio in iTunes Producer. Be sure to import the new audio into the album package and do not change any other attributes on the album.

Update cover art

You must open a cover art ticket to update your cover art for music and music videos. The Quality Assurance team will review the updates to ensure the image meets the requirements.

  1. In iTunes Connect, click My Music.
  2. Search for the album or music video that you wish to update.
  3. From the search results, click on the magnifying glass in the View Album Details column.
  4. In the Album Summary section, click Replace Cover Art.
  5. Attach new cover art to the ticket and click Submit. Only one cover art ticket can be open per music video or album.

Once your changes are confirmed, you’ll receive a ticket number for reference. For more information on cover art specifications, see Artwork in the Apple Music Style Guide.

Update metadata

You can request updates to most metadata fields at any time after delivery in iTunes Connect. Changes to playlists, track titles, artists, and other display information can be requested, as well as updates to rights and pricing.

  1. In iTunes Connect, click My Music.
  2. Search for the album or music video that you wish to update.
  3. From the search results, click on the magnifying glass in the View Album Details column.
  4. Click Edit Metadata to make the desired changes.
  5. Click Save and Submit to open a ticket.

Go to Tickets in iTunes Connect to review the status. Metadata updates can also be requested using iTunes Producer and Transporter by sending refreshed metadata for a package.
