Kanto[]

The progression in the main game very closely follows the progression of the first generation games and their remakes.

  • This guide will follow a classic mode on standard mode, with normal fusions.

Journey’s Beginning[]

Pallet Town

In the player’s bedroom, there is a laptop to withdraw a potion, which might be helpful for the first battle against the ’s rival. On the main floor, the player’s mother will give a letter containing the Pokémon League’s acceptance to the Trainer’s Application Form, as well as the Trainer’s Card. Finally, the rival’s name can be chosen here.

Outside, the rival will inform the player that he was also accepted and Professor Oak is planning to give them each a Pokémon once he is back from Viridian City. Once the rival leaves, head north towards the patch of long grass, where Oak will stop and escort the player to his lab to choose a starter Pokémon.

The rival will choose the remaining starters and fuse them. Before the player can leave Prof. Oak’s Lab, the rival challenges her to a battle.

Once the battle’s over, Oak will ask the player to retrieve a package for him in Viridian City’s PokéMart. A final step before leaving Pallet Town is to visit the rival’s house and talk to his sister to obtain a map. The rival’s mother also gives the player the option to rename him.

Route 1
The road to Viridian City starts north of Pallet Town on Route 1. A PokéMart employee gives a Potion to the player when interacted with. The player can also interact with Lass Mimi for a battle with her Pidgey. Finally, there is an Oran Berry on the patch of tall grass west of Mimi.

Viridian City
The first thing to do is visit the PokéCenter to heal. The next destination should be the PokéMart to grab Oak’s Parcel and a free DNA Splicer. The road north is blocked by a drunk old man until the player delivers the parcel back to Oak in Pallet Town.

The way south to Pallet Town is quicker, as the player can jump down the steep rocky steps and evade most patches of tall grass. Anytime, interacting with the player’s mother can heal Pokémon. Delivering Oak's parcel will reward the player with 5 PokéBalls and the Pokédex, as well as unlock the path north of Viridian City. Before leaving, Oak’s male assistant gives the player two more PokéBalls.

Boulder Badge[]

Route 1

On the way back to Viridian City, it is a good idea to start capturing a few Pokémons, such as a Rattata and either a Pidgey or a Hoothoot. Wild encounters vary depending on the in-game time.

Viridian City

In the Viridian City’s PokéCenter, a youngster wants to trade his Bellsprout for a Spearow, which can be obtained at Route 22. The PokéMart will also be opened and the player can now purchase items such as PokéBalls, Potions and DNA Splicers. Additionally, if the user closed and reopened the game at least once with an existing save file, a deliveryman will also be present to give the player a Pyukumuku.

The Vermillion Gym is closed, as no one has seen the Gym Leader for so long. The player has no other choice to continue to the new Gym in hope to get a badge.

Route 22

West of Viridian City is Route 22. Although optional, it is highly recommended to battle the rival here to unlock the Secret Garden.

While here, there are two youngsters to battle, which rewards the player with freebies. There are also two potions and a Becha Berry, as well as the tall grass offers additional Pokémon to help for the next sections. There are also berry bushes in this section, which can be interacted with every in-game day. If the player attempts to enter the Pokémon League gate, Brock, Pewter City’s Gym Leader, will stop her and explain she needs to collect 8 badges first.

Secret Garden

This section is optional, but offers a lot of rewards. It can only be unlocked by defeating the rival at Route 22 before obtaining the first badge. Afterwards, it can be accessed whenever the player desires. It offers 6 Potions, 4 Revives, 1 Super Potion and 1 Max Revives, as well as additional Pokémons which can only be obtained much later normally. The entrance is located just south of Viridian City, in Route 1, by walking into a specific tile by the tree wall.

Route 2 (Before the Forest)

With the old man gone, the path north to Route 2 is available. This short path has some patches of long grass and is the south edge of the Viridian Forest.

Viridian Forest

The home of bug Pokémons, this section contains several trainers to battle with. After fighting them, some will offer to trade one of their Pokémons, while others will offer to battle them again. Battling the same trainer again offers the chance to gain more Experience, as their Pokémon will also level up every few battles, and can also evolve.

There are also several items to collect, including 3 Pecha Berries hidden behind a potion, on the West side of the Forest.

There are also mushrooms and spiderwebs which can be interacted with every in-game day, but they can randomly give items or trigger a wild encounter with a Paras or a Spinarak. The clearway follows a counterclockwise direction, with the exit in the Top-West corner.

Route 2 (After the Forest)

Once more, some patch of long grass offers more Pokémon, such as a Poliwag, if the player has no water-type Pokémon yet.

Pewter City

Several features will be present in most cities.

  • Firstly, PokéCenter will have a second floors, which offers the player three options:
    • Move Reminder: for a small fee, the Pokémon can remember a move lost while leveling.
    • Wonder Trade: either by buying or using already acquired tickets, the player can trade and acquire new Pokémons.
    • Update man: offers the user the possibility to fix potential bugs or edit game settings. This should only be done by experienced players.
  • Another important feature is the hotel.
    • On the ground floor, the player can pay a small fee to change the time of day, which can help with catching peculiar Pokémons.
    • On the second floor are the Quests, given by the hotel’s patrons, as well as a scientist who acts as a questmaster. He gives a Quest Journal the first time the player interacts with him, and can also give other rewards for showing the amount of quest completions.
    • See Quests for more info.

Now, for what Pewter’s City has to offer in particular:

  • Now, for what Pewter’s City has to offer in particular:
  • In the PokéCenter, a youngster wishes to trade his Tyrogue for a Mankey, which can be found in Route 22.
  • West of the PokéCenter is an old man who gives the player a Repel.
  • In front of the museum is a hiker who will give the Black Flute after obtaining the Badge.
  • Inside the museum is a Fossil Restoration Machine, which will be active after obtaining the Thunder Badge.

Pewter’s City Gym
This city’s gym is the player’s first objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Brock, the leader, will reward the player with the Boulder Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

At the entrance is a man who gives a Fresh Water to the player, as well as basic information regarding the gym, which is a Rock type for this case.

This gym contains two trainers, and although one can be ignored, it gives good experience and income for the player.

Gym Leader’s battles are different, as they impose the number of Pokémons that can be used by the player. For Brock’s battle, the amount of Pokémons in a team will be limited to two, and when challenged, a team roster will be prompt for the player.

After defeating Brock, the player is awarded with the Boulder Badge, the TM39 Rock Tomb, and a Wonder Trader Ticket. Finally, when talking to the Hiker in front of the museum, he gives a Black Flute.

Cascade Badge[]

Before leaving Pewter City, completing at least one quest will reward the player with HM08 Flash, which will be helpful in the Mt. Moon’s Dark Room, and for later, Rock Tunnel.

Route 3

The road to Cerulean City starts east of Pewter City. Oak’s female assistance will explain the hidden ability swarm event in a small patch of Tall Grass.

There is a Pecha Berry and a Paralyze Heal to grab, and eight trainers to battle.

  • Bug Catcher Colton wants to trade one of his Pokémon.
  • Bug Catcher James also wants to trade one of his Pokémon.
  • Bug Catcher Greg will give Walkthrough (1)20 for each caught Pokémons. At this point, it’s best to get the Walkthrough (2) from Greg now for some extra healing items and PokéBalls.
  • There are two berry bushes near the PokéCenter.

Make sure to talk to the nurse attending to the wounded Geodude before entering the cavern.

  • Once the nurse is back inside the PokéCenter, one of the patrons will give a Repel.
  • There is also a fisherman who sells a Magikarp in the PokéCenter.

Mt. Moon

Several trainers mention they were beaten by a group of thugs dressed in a black uniform. On the Bottom left is a potion, and in a rock is a hidden Antidote. Near the bottom Right corner is a Rare Candy, and a bit North East is an Escape Rope. When attempting to grab the Rare Candy, a short scene about said thugs where they discuss their plan and block the path.

The only thing left to do for the player is to report back to Brock. He informs the player that the thugs are none other than Team Rocket, and gives the TM94 Rock Smash to deal with the blocked path. When taught to a Pokémon, the rock in front of the player is smashed and either an item is found or a Pokémon attacks. With Rock Smash, the player is now capable of traversing Mt. Moon.

Back in Mt. Moon, the trainers beyond the blocked path will battle the player. TM09 Venoshock can be obtained by breaking some rocks near a ladder. The first ladder the player encounters lead to a small room on BF2. There is a Great Ball hidden by a Stalagmite and a Team Rocket grunt protects a Star Piece.

  • Team Rocket Grunts’ team is mostly composed of Zubats, Ekans and Rattatas.

Back on 1F, four trainers block the way before reaching the second ladder, which leads to another small room on B2F. Another Grunt is present and guards TM46 Thief and a Super Potion. Climbing back to the 1F and battling the Hiker will grant access to the final ladder to the player, as well as a Stardust.

In the main room of B2F, the path north leads to the Dark Room, which will require a Pokémon with the HM08 Flash to properly navigate. The player can find a HP Up next to the entrance, a hidden Moon Stone by a rock in the corner, and the TM106 Draining Kiss by the end of the path.

After defeating the Grunt, the short path North leads to an Everstone. Following the path South is an exit to the Mt. Moon square, where an elderly couple sells some items. Furthermore, if the player comes at night and visits the rocks next to the house, Clefairies will be scared and leave a Moon Stone.

Back on B2F, following the path in a Clockwise direction will lead to more Grunts and a scene involving Team Rocket Boss and a kidnapped scientist. When the player interrupts, the scientist will be forced to battle the player. After defeating the scientist, Team Rocket will leave Mt. Moon and the player will be offered to choose between the Helix Fossil and the Dome Fossil. Here is also a hidden Full Heal by the Stalagmite near where the Boss was standing. There is another hidden Stardust in the rocks South of the ladder, and a Tiny Mushroom by the Stalagmite near the exit.

Route 4

South of Mt. Moon is another cavern, where the player can find a Nugget and TM37 Sandstorm, as well as a hidden Super Repel by a large boulder. On the route itself, there is a large patch of tall grass as well as two berry bushes.

Cerulean City

This city has the usual accommodation: a two-story PokéCenter, a PokéMart and a Hotel. Additionally, Cerulean offers in particular:

  • A trainer who wishes to trade his Pokémon, but only if the player traded at least one. His Pokémon will always be the starter weak to the player’s starter, and he will want a type matching it. For example, if the player picked Charmander, he would trade a Bulbasaur for any Fire-Type Pokémon.
  • Oak’s Female assistant who gives an Exp. Share if the player fused at least 5 times.
  • Left of the PokéCenter is an elderly woman who gives TM11 Sunny Day, but only during the day.
  • A Bike shop in the South West.
  • An elderly man wants to trade his Yanma for a Paras in a house in the North West corner.
  • The North East house is occupied by Team Rocket Grunts.
  • The house next to the PokéMart is occupied by an elderly couple which the lady gives the happiness of the player team’s first Pokémon.
  • The hiker who gives a flute after showing him the city’s badge is in the South East corner.

The path East will be blocked by a small tree, and the path South by a police officer. The player can choose to either go north to Route 24 or challenge this city’s gym. Both needs to be done, but the player can choose which one to do first. It’s best to have finished 5 fusions and obtain the Exp. Share from Oak’s assistant before visiting Route 24.

Route 24

Before tackling the Nugget Bridge, the rival challenges the player to a battle.

The next challenge is the Nugget Bridge, where several trainers will battle the player, and the prize is a Nugget. After crossing the bridge is Oak’s assistance next to a big patch of tall grass. She gives a sequence of quests which will reward the player with a PokéRadar.

Route 25

Nine trainers block the way in Route 25. A protein and a Revive can be found, and several trainers offer trade options to the player:

  • Youngster Dan wants a Rock Pokémon.
  • Camper Flint wants a Poison Pokémon of at least level 14.
  • Youngster Chad wants a Pokémon of at least 20 for his Bulbtata.
  • Hiker Wayne wants a Pokémon of at least 17 for his Oddix.

Cerulean Cape

Before entering the lighthouse, there is a Super Potion to grab by the water. There are also hidden items by boulders, an Elixir and a Potion, on each side of the Lighthouse.

Inside, there is a scene where Bill fused himself with a Pokémon. After helping him out, he gives the player his S.S. Anne Cruise Ticket.

Cerulean Gym
This city’s gym is the trainer’s second objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Misty, the leader, will reward the player with the Cascade Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

At the entrance is a man who gives a Fresh Water to the player, as well as basic information regarding the gym, which is a Water type for this case.

This gym also contains two trainers, and only one trainer can be skipped.

For Misty’s battle, the amount of Pokémons in a team will be limited to two.

After defeating Misty, the player is awarded with the Cascade Badge, the TM55 Water Pulse, and a Wonder Trader Ticket. Finally, when talking to the Hiker in the South East corner, he gives a White Flute.

Thunder Badge[]

The south path should no longer be blocked by the police officer if the player obtained the badge, but the player should already have the S.S. Anne cruise ticket before traveling to Vermillion City.

Route 5

The East path has a Revive by the path of tall grass, while the West path has two trainers which will give a Pokémon Egg and a Lava Cookie to the player after defeating them. The Pokémon Breeder by the Tunnel entrance wishes to trade her Poliwag for a Rattata. A Team Rocket Grunt will block access to Saffron City unless the player pays Walkthrough (3)100,000. Taking the Underground Path is free and leads to Route 6.

Underground Path

There are several items hidden in this tunnel.

Route 6

Several trainers are on this path, as well as two berry bushes. The path North leads to Saffron City, but another Team Rocket Grunt blocks the way. The South South leads to Vermillion City.

Vermillion City

This city has the usual accommodation: a two-story PokéCenter, a PokéMart and a Hotel. Additionally, Vermillion offers in particular:

  • The house west of the PokéCenter belongs to one of the Fishing Guru, who gives the player an Old Rod.
  • The fisherman in the PokéCenter wishes to trade his Slowpoke for a Meowth.
  • The small house south of the Pokécenter has a youngster who wishes to trade his FarFetch’d for a Spearow. There is also an Elixir hidden in the trash bin.
  • A young girl on a bench next to her Krabby gives the player a Sun Stone.
  • In the PokéClub, several trainers wish to trade their Pokémon. The leader also will give the player a Bike Voucher after telling his story, which can be traded for a Bike in Cerulean City.
  • East of the Dock to the S.S. Anne, following the edge of the water and the forest, is the Hiker who gives a Flute after presenting him the Thunder Badge.
  • The house west of the Hotel belongs to the Move Deleter.
  • On the ground floor of the Hotel is a collector who buys Balm Mushroom for a much higher price than what the PokéMart offers.
  • A path between a forest and north of the Hotel leads to a worker who lost his pickaxe. After retrieving it, he will let the player keep it. This is the first HM replacement item the player can get.

The path to the Gym is blocked, so the player needs to find a way to cut through. This is where the S.S. Anne Cruise Ticket is crucial, as HM01 Cut is obtained by the Ship’s Captain. Two other options are offered to the player: the path East leads to Route 11 and Diglett’s Cave. Both optional, and offer several battles and new Pokémons to catch.

Route 11

The cave entrance leads to Diglett’s Cave. Further east is a large patch of tall grass, as well as several trainers are present to battle. Every Gamblers the player defeat will offer to play Black Jack for Walkthrough (4)2000, and winning will provide a Nugget, a Big Nugget and a Rare Candy. There are Walkthrough (5)2000 on the South East corner. In the Terminal’s second floor is a man who wishes to trade his Mareep for a Venonat. Attempting to continue to Route 12 will be blocked by a sleeping Snorlax. Janine will give a clue to the player about a PokéFlute that may wake it up.

S.S. Anne

S.S. Anne Cruise ship is currently docked in Vermillion City. After going through the Marina and showing the ticket, the ticket controller informs that room #2 is the player’s room. The bed in said room can be used to heal Pokémons. While in the room, inspect the trash bin for a hidden Super Potion.

Although the goal is to get HM01 Cut to gain access to the Gym, S.S. Anne has several decks full of rooms with trainers to battle and items to collect.

  • The Lower Deck has a Max Ether, a hidden Pecha Berry in a trash bin, a Great Ball and a Rare Candy.
  • The Mid Deck has a second Super Potion and an Ether.
  • The kitchen has a hidden Chesto Berry and a hidden Great Ball in trash bins.
  • The Upper Deck has a hidden Potion in a trash bin, TM31 Brick Break and a stardust.
  • The Main Deck, outside, has a Super Potion, a Paralyze Heal and the Captain’s Key.
  • Battling Super Nerd Miguel in the restaurant gives the player the choice between the Root Fossil and the Claw Fossil.

After obtain the Captain’s Key and attempting to enter the Captain’s Room will reveal the rival who challenges the player to a battle.

Unlocking the door reveals a sick captain. After interacting with the captain and a short scene, he gives the player HM01 Cut, which will give access to the Gym.

Vermillion Gym
This city’s gym is the trainer’s third objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Lt. Surge, the leader, will reward the player with the Thunder Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

At the entrance is a man who gives a Fresh Water to the player, as well as basic information regarding the gym, which is an Electric type for this case.

This gym also contains three trainers, and it’s best to fight them all to focus on the puzzle after.

This gym has a puzzle switch, which the trainers give clues to the player on how to solve it. To open a path to Lt. Surge, the player needs to find the first switch in the trash bins. Once found, the second switch will be in one of the adjacent bins. The player can try a single guess for the second switch and if it’s wrong, the switches change bins and the player must restart. The first switch should always move to an adjacent bin to where it previously was. If the player succeeds to find the second switch, stairs will appear and the player may challenge the gym leader.

For Lt. Surge’s battle, the amount of Pokémons in a team will be limited to three.

After defeating Lt. Surge, the player is awarded with the Thunder Badge, the TM73 Thunder Wave, and two Wonder Trader Tickets. Leaving the Gym, a scientist gives HM07 Teleport to the player and explains the Fossil Resurrection Machine in Pewter City is available to the public. Finally, when talking to the Hiker in the South East corner, he gives a Blue Flute.

  • Teaching Teleport to a Pokémon and having the Thunder Badge allows the player to move quickly to any previously visited town or PokéCenter. It acts as the form of Quick Travel in this game. Later, the player will find new forms of quick travel, and will go in more detail as they become available.

Optional Objectives - Diglett’s Cave and Cut[]

This section is entirely optional, but gives the player several items that may help the journey.

Diglett’s Cave

Traversing the Diglett’s Cave will bring the player back to Route 2, but behind the small trees which were blocking the first time.

Pewter City
In the house next to the Cave’s entrance is a hiker who wants to trade his Mr. Mime for an Abra and a maid who can make items from mushrooms. Cutting the small tree next to the house leads back to Pewter City, where the player can resurrect the two fossils. Finally, a new worker NPC next to the museum can be challenged to a battle and gives Bricks to the player if the player accepted the quest “Building Materials” back in Vermillion City.

Cutting the small tree and going in the Museum's side entrance opens a new side quest with a female scientist. Completing her quest gives the player the Old Amber. Going back to Viridian Forest gives the player PP Up which were inaccessible without Cut. Reaching the female scientist, she warns the player she is afraid of the Beedrills, and after two twin battles, the player obtains the Old Amber.

Route 2
From the Diglett’s Cave entrance is another path that leads south to the second portion of Route 2. There is a second house and an Ether on the ground next to it. Inside the house is an old man who needs help cutting the small tree in his yard. Completing his request will grant the player with Shears, another HM Replacement Item for Cut.

The path south continues to the Secret Forest. Unfortunately, the player has no way to climb up, but can grab a Super Potion on the ground.

Viridian City
There is a small tree near the old man’s house which leads back to Viridian City. Just like in Vermillion city, a new Worker can be battled and gives Wooden Planks to the player.

Vermillion City
With both bricks and Wooden Planks, the player can travel back to Vermillion City and receive a Rocky Helmet in exchange. Furthermore, if the player completed at least 10 quests, the Quest Master in the Hotel will reward her with a Lantern, the HM Replacement Item for Flash.

Route 6 and Cerulean City
Back to Route 6, next to the Underground Path entrance are small trees to cut and leaves to grab TM54 False Swipe. In Cerulean City, the player can also grab Water Stone behind small trees. The player can exchange the Bike Voucher in the shop and while riding her new bike, can challenge the girl on a bike to a race. Winning the race will reward the player with TM40 Aerial Ace.

Route 25
On Route 25, the player can cut a small tree to gain access to a small clearway blocked by a Hiker. Two berry bushes are there, as well as the item TM43 Flame Charge.

Route 5
The last optional destination is the Pokémon Daycare, which is blocked by small trees within Route 5. In the back room, the player can find on the ground the item Destiny Knot, and the nanny gives a Pokémon Egg. On the second floor is the item Rose Incense.

Returning to the nanny, she has several quests to complete, and will reward the player with more Pokémon eggs.

Rainbow Badge[]

Route 9

Now that the player has Cut, the road east of Cerulean City can be accessed. Typical to most routes, several trainers will battle the player and items can be collected.

  • An Ether hidden by a boulder near the first hiker.
  • A Light Clay hidden by a large boulder near the center of the canyon portion.
  • A second Ether hidden by a boulder near the second Bug Catcher trainer.
  • TM51 Ally Switch, a Full Restore, a Rare Candy, a Max Potion, and an Oval Stone are on ground for grab.
  • A Thunder Stone from Picnicker Caitlin after defeating her.
  • Camper Chris wants to trade one of his Pokémon for a Fairy type.
  • Hiker Brice wants to trade one of his Pokémon for a Ground type of level 15.

Route 10 (Before Rock Tunnel)

There is a PokéCenter near Rock Tunnel’s entrance, similar to Mt. Moon. West of the PokéCenter leads to the cave’s entrance, with a single trainer to battle, while the Power Plant can be found South, beyond the small tree.

Power Plant
Without the Power Plant Key, the player only has access to the ground floor, but a Repel and TM57 Charge Beam can be grabbed.

Rock Tunnel

Like the Dark Room in Mt. Moon, to navigate properly within Rock Tunnel, the player will need either a Pokémon with the move Flash or the Lantern, both of which are given by the Quest Master in the Hotel.

There are a lot of items to collect, even in dead-ends, and several are hidden by boulders and stalagmites:

  • On the ground, there is a Repel, TM47 Low Sweep, a Max Revive, a Super Potion, an Escape Rope, a Full Heal, and a Max Ether.
  • There is an Ether hidden by a stalagmite near the entrance.
  • Before the first fork in the basem*nt, there is a hidden Revive.
  • Painter Maya wants to trade her Jigglyth for a Pokémon that knows the move Flash.
  • There is a Repel hidden by a boulder next to TM47 Low Sweep.
  • Hiker Pat wants to trade one of his Pokémon for one that knows the move Sing.
  • In a corner, next to Hiker Pat is a large boulder where an Awakening is hidden.
  • Hiker Lucas will give a Pokémon Egg after defeating him.
  • Hiker Oliver will give the player a Max Revive after defeating him.
  • There is a Full Heal hidden by a stalagmite pass Hiker Lucas.
  • Next to the Max Revive behind breakable rocks, there is an Antidote hidden by a stalagmite.
  • Poké Maniac Cooper will give after defeating him, if the player caught at least 30 different Pokémons.
  • In the corner after climbing the ladder, near two Picnickers, is a hidden Smooth Rock, by the boulder.
  • Picnicker Dana will give a Full Restore after defeating her and giving her something to drink.
  • After defeating Cool Trainer Laura and challenging her to battle, she will heal the player’s team and have a complete roster: defeating her again and she will give the player a Hyper Potion.
  • There is a PP Up hidden by a boulder near the exit.

Both times the player is in the basem*nt floor, there is an extra ladder to climb, the first to obtain TM47 Low Sweep, and the second, behind some breakable rocks, which leads to a small canyon within Rock Tunnel. A second, small cave, next to Spell Tag, is occupied by an old man who will give Honedge to the player.

Route 10 (After Rock Tunnel)

After Rock Tunnel is the second portion of Route 10, where a single trainer and a Max Potion is behind some breakable rocks, after which, the player can reach Lavender Town.

Lavender Town

Lavender Town does not have a Gym, nor a Hotel, but there is the Pokémon Tower.

  • In the PokéCenter is a man who will sell a Wynaut egg for Walkthrough (6)5000.
  • Next to the PokéMart is the house of the PokéManiac:
  • He gives the player a Sun Stone during the day.
  • He gives the player a Moon Stone at night.
  • Both stones can be collected once.
  • TM41 Torment can be grabbed in the blue house’s flower field.

The Name Rater lives In the tent, who gives TM87 Swagger when showing him a Pokémon with a perfect nickname. Interacting with the picture next to him gives a hint: nicknames should start and end with the same letter as the Pokémon’s name.

The path south leads to Route 12, but after battling a few trainers, the path is blocked by the same slumbering Snorlax.

Pokémon Tower
On the first floor, the young boy gives the player an Odd Keystone. Climbing the stairs to the second floor is the rival, who challenges the player to a battle.

After defeating the rival, both him and the player hear some yelling and they figure that Team Rocket are holding Mr. Fuji captive at the top of the tower. Unfortunately, without a Silph Scope, the player has no other choice but to go to Celadon City to try to get one.

  • If you try to climb the tower, there will be haunter ghosts who will chase you. On the staircase for 4F, a Gengar will expel the player back to 2F, hard-blocking any further attempts.

Route 8

West of Lavender Town is Route 8, many trainers will challenge the player to a battle. The west terminal for Saffron City is also blocked by a Team Rocket Grunt, but fortunately, there is another underground passage.

Underground Path

There are several items hidden in this tunnel.

Route 7

The Underground Path’s exit is at Route 7, right next to Celadon City. There are several trainers east to fight, and the terminal for Saffron City has, yet again, a Team Rocket Grunt.

  • Painter Maya wants to trade her Jigglyth for a Pokémon of Grass and Fairy types.

Celadon City

This city has the usual accommodation: a two-story PokéCenter, a PokéMart and a Hotel. Additionally, Celadon offers in particular:

  • In the PokéCenter, a man wants to trade his Ponyta for a Raichu.
  • In the house left of the PokéCenter, in a trash can, a fight against a random fusion.
  • In the 2nd house left of the PokéCenter, a man wants to trade his Elekid for an Eevee.
  • In the 2nd house right of the Department Store, dev is present and can read PC’s Name (* * * STREAMER BEWARE! * * *). He has a gift for capturing all 470 base Pokémons. On the roof, there is a mini quest to get a free Eevee.
  • House left of the Department Store, there are three collectors who buy Rare Bones, Big Nuggets and Pearl Strings for a much higher price than what the PokéMart offers.
  • House right of the Hotel is a Café, which is a front operation for team Rocket.
  • In the Café, at day, is a Gentleman who gives the Coin Case, a Cool Trainer who gives a Carbos after defeating him, and Super Nerd Miguel who gives another fossil after defeating him.
  • In the Café, at night, is a Team Rocket Black Market to buy stolen Pokémons. Buying any Pokémons from Team Rocket will lower your Karma.
  • Right of Café is a house with two Cool Trainers, one of them gives a Super Splicer.
  • The small trees right of the Café leads to a small forest: there is a PP Max, a hidden Silver Powder, a hidden TM81 X-Scissor and the flute traveler.
  • The small trees south of the hotel is a path that leads to the gym and the sewers. There is also a Twisted Spoon on the ground.
  • In the Game Corner, after obtaining the Coin Case, there are 305 coins hidden by the chairs of the slot machines and plants.

Route 16

West of Celadon City is Route 16. The road is blocked by a slumbering Snorlax, but the player can visit a house, pass the patch of long grass and receive HM02 Fly from the Gentleman. There is also a hidden Leppa Berry in the trash bin.

  • Teaching Fly to a Pokémon and having the Thunder Badge allows the player to move quickly to any previously visited town or PokéCenter. It acts as the form of Quick Travel in this game. This is an alternative to Teleport, as it serves the same Overworld purpose, but offers different combat options.

Left of the house is a hidden entrance to the Secret Forest.

Secret Forest

This section is optional, but several Nuggets and a Rare Candy are on the ground, as well as Pokémons available to catch. The path south leads to Viridian River, but without Surf, there is nothing to do there yet.

Celadon Sewers

Back in Celadon, the gym is locked, but near it is the Sewers, where the rival and Team Rocket are having a battle. When the player interrupts, Team Rocket hides in the sewer and the rival leaves, blaming the player. After the commotion, Erika comes to investigate, and when the player informs her that Mr. Fuji was kidnapped, she asks her to team up with the player and follow Team Rocket in the sewers. While inside the sewers, Erika will heal the player’s Pokémon after each battle, and battles with be in a 2vs2 setup.

  • Similar to Mt. Moon, Team Rocket Grunts’ team is mostly composed of Zubats, Ekans, Rattatas, Koffings and Grimers. Most battles with Erika will be quick: she will be always be using her Weepingela first and often use Razor Leaf.
  • There is also a funny visual glitch, where Erika starts moving really fast and goes off screen: don’t worry, she’ll still be in the battles and heal your team. It sometimes happened after changing floor with the ladders or loading a save file within the sewers.

The sewers’ puzzle involves raising and lowering the water level and creating bridges with large wooden planks. When climbing the ladders, PCs allow the player to raise and lower the water level. When walking on a large wooden plank that is hanging while the water level is low, the wooden plank will fall and create a new bridge for the player once the water level rises.

While completing the sewers puzzle, the player can grab several items. For the ones on the higher ground, one in particular requires the water to be raised and crossing wooden planks, while the rest require the water to be lowered to walk on stairs. For the ones of the lower ground, it will always require the water to be lowered.

  • From Lower ground, there is an Ultra Ball, TM34 Sludge Wave and PP Up.
  • From Higher ground when water is lowered, there is a Super Repel, a Full Restore and an Antidote.
  • The Black Sludge requires the water to be raised and the player to cross several floating wooden planks.

At the end of the sewers is where the Team Rocket Hideout in Celadon. The player and Erika split at the fork. Whichever path the player chooses, there will be arrow tiles, which will force the player to move in their direction. There is a Great Ball, a Revive, an Elixir, a Full Heal and an Iron in the West Wing. In the East Wing, there is a Revive, an Elixir and a Full Heal. After completing the Arrow-maze, Giovanni will be waiting at the final room and challenge the player to a battle.

After defeating Giovanni, Erika will return to her gym, offering the player to challenge her for the Rainbow Badge, and the Silph Scope can be picked on the table. In the back room is a notebook with hints of their goal.

  • There are items left in the room in which Erika went, so feel free to grab them. With Celadon’s gym doors unlocked and the Silph Scope, the player can choose to do whichever first between grabbing the badge or saving Mr. Fuji. Furthermore, the Team Rocket gatekeeper at each Saffron City’s terminals will no longer accept any toll, but will challenge the player to a battle. Defeating any of the gatekeepers will grant access to Saffron City.

Celadon Gym
This city’s gym is the trainer’s fourth objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Erika, the leader, will reward the player with the Rainbow Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

At the entrance, there will be no one, so no free Fresh Water to the player or tips regarding the gym. But Erika did give the player enough clues, thanks to the Sewers arc, which is a Grass type for this case.

This gym is a simple maze made of hedges, with Erika in the middle. It contains eight trainers, and some of them can be skipped if desired.

After reaching the center of the maze, the player can finally challenge Erika. For her battle, the amount of Pokémons in a team will be limited to three.

After defeating Erika, the player is awarded with the Rainbow Badge, the TM22 Solar Beam, and two Wonder Trader Tickets. Finally, when talking to the Hiker in the small forest right of the Café, he gives a Red Flute.

Soul Badge[]

Pallet Town
With four badges, when the player speaks with her brother, he will give her one of the starters as a Pokémon Egg.

  • The player's sibling will generally give the starter which is strong against the starter you started with. For example, if you started with Charmander, he would give you a Squirtle Egg.

Cerulean Cape
Bill is working on an AI Pokémon Project and requires the help of the player to retrieve it. When inside the cyberspace, level 20 Porygon will attack the player, but she will not be able to catch them. The goal is to force the Porygon back to the entrance, but it will keep taking the path furthest from the player. When the Porygon is the closest to the entrance, interact with it from the north and it will leave the cyberspace.

Pokémon Tower

Back in Lavender Town, right of the Pokémon Tower is a giant bell. If the player accepted the Old Lady’s quest in Celadon’s Hotel, her clue is to ring the bell when the time is right (Both hands of a clock are right, so 3:15). A cave entrance will appear next to the Bell, and at the very end, a Reaper Cloth can be found on the ground.

With the Silph Scope, it’s time to go rescue Mr. Fuji back in the Pokémon Tower. There is an Elixir on the ground on the second floor. The ghosts blocking the player’s path in the 3rd floor are gone and instead, trainers are blocking the way to the top.

There is an Awakening and a Spell Tag on the ground on the fourth floor. On the fifth floor, there is a purified zone which will heal the player’s team, as well as a HP Up and an Escape Rope. On the sixth floor, there is the TM61 Will-O-Wisp. When attempting to climb the stairs to the seventh floor, a ghost lass stops the player and challenges her.

Reaching the seventh floor, the player reaches Mr. Fuji, which is safe. Unfortunately, he had no choice but to give them what they wanted. Before leaving, he gives her the PokéFlute.

Route 12

There is a Big Root behind some cuttable trees and Fisherman Hank gives the player a Water Stone after defeating him. With the Poké Flute, the player can now wake the slumbering Snorlax blocking on Route 12 and progress towards Fuchsia City. When attempting to wake him up, Snorlax will challenge the player.

After capturing or defeating the Snorlax, Janine will be grateful to unblocking the road, and invite the player to visit her in Fuchsia City.

Further along the road is the house of one of the Fishing Guru, who gives the player a Good Rod.

Route 13

There are 16 trainers in total in Route 13, most of them optional. The player can not obtain all items until she has Surf, but there is an Everstone pass Clown Pagliacci, two pearls hidden in the seashells on the beach, a Sun Stone from Swimmer Valerie, a Super Potion by the large patch of tall grass, a calcium and a PP Up in the fence maze.

  • After defeating Nurse Maria, she will heal the player’s Pokémon.

Route 14

Route 14 is short, with 7 trainers and a Damp Rock by the large patch of rough grass.

Route 15

Route 15 is fairly short too, with 8 trainers to battle. There is also TM36 Sludge Bomb by the small patch of long grass pass Clown Sol, a Sticky Barb on the higher ground, as well as a hidden Hard Stone in the mossy rock next to it.

  • Just like in Route 13, Nurse Celia will heal the player’s Pokémon after defeating her.

Route 16
Like the player did in Route 12, she can play the PokéFlute to wake the Snorlax. After defeating or capturing it, the player will recieve HM04 Stength, and the path to Route 17 will no longer be blocked.

Route 17

Route 17 is a Cycling Road, and can only be traversed if the player has either a Bicycle or a Racing Bicycle. There are 10 trainers in total, and most of them are optional or can be evaded.

Route 18
Without Surf, there is not much to do on Route 18. There are two Bikers, as well as a patch of tall grass. Fuchsia City is only a dozen steps East from the terminal.

Fuchsia City

This city has the usual accommodation: a two-story PokéCenter, a PokéMart and a Hotel. Additionally, Fuchsia offers in particular:

  • The house left of the PokéCenter has an elderly woman with a sleeping Musharna which reveals which zone currently has Pokémon with Hidden Abilities.
  • The house right of the Hotel is Janine’s house. She wants to trade her Gligar for a Golbat.
  • The Hotel has a backyard with a lady who can groom one of the player’s Pokémon per day.
  • The flute hiker is in the zoo, between Munna’s and the bugs’ cages.
  • The Safari Zone can be found at the end of the zoo.
  • On the second floor of the East Terminal for Route 15 is one of Oak’s assistants, who will give the player an Exp. All if she fused 20 types.

Safari Zone

The Safari Zone is a unique place to catch rare Pokémons, where the player does not battle wild Pokémons to catch, but instead, throws rocks and baits, and can only use the Safari Balls provided. When the player pays to enter, 30 Safari Balls are provided and the player will be forced to exit once all of them are used or have taken 600 steps. The reason for visiting the Safari Zone this early is to obtain HM03 Surf, given by a Park Ranger in the house within Area 4.

  • The first time going in should be focused on obtaining the HM03 Surf, located very deep in the Safari Zone. Ignore items and only try capturing wild Pokémons on the way without doing any detours or using all Safari Balls, as the majority of the steps will be used to get to the prize.

Fuchsia Gym
This city’s gym is the trainer’s fifth objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Koga, the leader, will reward the player with the Soul Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

At the entrance is a man who gives a Fresh Water to the player, as well as basic information regarding the gym, which is a Poison type for this case.

This gym also contains six trainers, and most can be dodged if desired.

This gym has a maze puzzle with invisible walls. The best option is to reach the right window, find the entrance passing by the center window. This path will go near the center of the room, then near the entrance, and finally, to Koga.

For Koga’s battle, the amount of Pokémons in a team will be limited to four.

After defeating Koga, the player is awarded with the Soul Badge, the TM06 Toxic, and two Wonder Trader Tickets. Finally, when talking to the Hiker in the small forest right of the Café, he gives a Yellow Flute.

Optional Objectives - Strength[]

This section is entirely optional, but gives the player several items that may help the journey.

Route 13
By the junction with Route 14 are two big boulders, which hides a Hyper Potion. There is also a Black Belt who will ask the player to use Strength to move his Rhyhorn to the tower by the beach. Doing so will reward the player with the HM Replacement Item Handtruck.

Route 4
On Route 4, there is a second cave entrance, south where the player originally came out from Mt. Moon. Beyond the giant boulders are stairs that lead to the upper section of Mt. Moon Square for TM96 Moonblast.

Route 24
On Route 24, between the Nugget Bridge and Route 25, is TM19 Telekinesis behind some giant boulders.

Marsh Badge[]

Occupied Saffron City
After disrupting Team Rocket’s operation in Celadon Sewers, the Grunts blocking access to Saffron City in routes 5, 6, 7 and 8 will no longer ask for a fee, but recognize the player and start a 2vs2 battle. After defeating any Grunt, the Saffron City will be accessible from any terminal.

Saffron City is completely occupied by Team Rocket: the Hotel, the Restaurant, the Gym and several Condominiums are reserved for Team Rocket members. Even the PokéMart is run by Team Rocket.

On the ground are a Max Revive and TM63 Embargo. The only things left to do at the moment is use the PokéCenter, challenge the Fighting Dojo and save Silph Co. Head Office.

Fighting Dojo
The fighting Dojo houses six Black Belt and Crush Girl trainers, and defeating the leader will reward the player with a Pokémon of her choice between Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan and Hitmontop.

Silph Co. Head Office

Team Rocket has taken control of the Silph Co. Head Office. This is an 11 story building, but the last floor cannot be reached with the elevator. The floors have colored tile which acts like warping panels to move in between two rooms of either the same or different rooms. Finally, the president’s office, where Silph Co.’s president is being held hostage by Giovanni, can only be reached via a warp panel.

  • Similar to Mt. Moon and Celadon Sewers, Team Rocket Grunts’ team is mostly composed of Golbats, Arboks, Raticates, Drowzee, Marowak, Weekings and Muks.
  • Additionally, some Silph Co. employees are loyal to Team Rocket and will have various fused Pokémons.
  • There are two infirmaries which the player can use their beds to heal, one on 8F and one on 9F.
  • Finally, large sliding doors are locked and the player will require a Card Key to open them. The sooner you get that Card Key, the sooner you can move everywhere and loot everything.

Starting on 9F, there is a corridor on East that leads to a room with blue crates, servers and a Silph Co. scientist loyal to Team Rocket. The Lime Warp Tile will teleport the player to 5F, and a corridor on the South that leads to the Card Key.

Back on 9F, the corridor facing the elevator leads to a small infirmary on the west, where the beds can heal the player’s Pokémons.

There are a lot of items that can be grabbed and employees to save within Silph. Co Head Office:

  • On 2F, there is a female Silph Co. scientist who gives the player a Stardust when rescuing her.
  • On 3F, there is an Elixir and a Hyper Potion on the ground.
  • On 4F, there is TM107 Play Rough, a Full Heal, a Full Restore and a Protein on the ground. There is also a hidden DNA Splicers by the Flower Pot near the stairs.
  • On 5F, there is TM92 Trick Room, X Accuracy and 5 Ultra Balls on the ground.
  • On 6F, there is a Carbos and a Rare Candy on the ground. There is also a hidden Elixir by the Flower Pot in the South-East corner.
  • On 7F, there is a HP UP and a Super Potion on the ground. There is also a Hyper Potion on a table and a hidden Calcium by the Western Server room.
  • On 8F, there is a X Defense on the ground.
  • On 10F, there are 9 items, all located in the big Storage room. For grab, there is an Elixir, 2 PP Max, Super Splicers, a Focus Band, a DNA Reverser and a Quick Ball. There is also a hidden Dire Hit and Guard Spec. by hidden boxes.

Between two sliding doors, on 3F, is a small room with a yellow warp tile, which leads to a small room in the North-East corner of 7F. A Silph Co. scientist will give the player a level-25 Lapras, and the turquoise warp panel behind him leads to 11F, the Executive Floor. Before entering the president’s office, the rival will challenge the player to a battle.

After defeating the rival, he will heal the player’s Pokémon and follow her to the president’s office, where both will challenge Giovanni in a double battle.

After defeating Giovanni, Team Rocket retreats from Silph Co. and the president thanks both the player and the rival. The President will also give the player one of the Johto’s starter Pokémon of her choice. Before leaving Silph Co. the yellow warp tile in the president’s office is now active, which leads to 6F, where a Master Ball can be obtained. Finally, on 1F, the receptionist will give the player an Upgrade as thanks for saving everyone. She will also sell several items at a discount.

Saffron City

With Team Rocket gone, Saffron City is fully accessible to the player. This city has the usual accommodation: a two-story PokéCenter, a PokéMart and a Hotel. Additionally, Saffron offers in particular:

  • In the PokéCenter, there is a collector who buys Comet Shard at a high price.
  • In the condominium left of the PokéCenter is a man that gives a Lava Cookie and a lady that gives a Shiny Stone.
  • The restaurant waitress gives a Fancy Meal every day.
  • In the condominium right of the PokéCenter is an elderly man that gives TM29 Psychic.
  • In the condominium at the South East corner is a machine that gives the IV of a Pokémon for Walkthrough (7)1000.

  • Left of the Hotel is the Train Station, which can bring the player to Johto’s Goldenrod City.
  • Near the North Terminal, behind Saffron Gym, is the Incredible Ball Guy. After completing several quests, the lady will sell them to the player.

Similar to Celadon City, there are several activities available to the player during the night.

  • In front of the Fighting Dojo is a Team Rocket Merchant that sells Mankey Paw.
  • West of Silph Co. Head Office entrance, is a condominium that has no door during the day, but has one at night. Interacting with the glitching TV inside will start a battle with a wild Rotom.
  • There will be a bouncer in front of the bar preventing the player from entering, but no one will inspect if a minor is inside before the night. While inside, there will be two mini quests, one of which is to copy the copycat girl’s dance for a Smeargle. Patrons in washrooms will give an Energy Drink and a Fresh Water, while on the dance floor, one gives a Beer.
    • If the bar’s day and night does not change, try going back in the washrooms and out again after 8:00 PM a few more times, it should change it to the night scene. Note that in newer versions, the "dance club" section in the basem*nt may not change properly until the "legendary band" quest is completed.
    • For tips for the copycat girl, see these Reddit pages here and here.

Saffron Gym
This city’s gym is the trainer’s sixth objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Sabrina, the leader, will reward the player with the Soul Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

This gym also contains five trainers, and some can be dodged if desired.

This gym features warp tiles just like in Silph Co. Head Office. For a direct approach to Sabrina, choose the warp tile on the bottom when three or more choices are offered.

For Sabrina’s battle, the amount of Pokémons in a team will be limited to four.

After defeating Sabrina, the player is awarded with the Marsh Badge, the TM03 Psyshock, and three Wonder Trader Tickets. Also, the player can now buy unlimited Wonder Tickets.

  • In the South-East corner, there is a PokéBall Workshop which sells different kinds of Balls, and allows the trainer to swap the ball of caught Pokémons for a small fee.
  • The underground has different shops that change, depending on the time of day.
  • There is a Stone Maniac house a little North of the PokéBall Workshop. Depending on the time of day, he will give the player a Dawn Stone, Sun Stone, Dusk Stone or Moon Stone. After giving all four stones, he will also give a Shiny Stone to the player.

North of Goldenrod City is Route 35, where there are seven trainers to fight, and two trainers give a Gender Stone and a Lava Cookie after defeating them. There are also items to get: a Nugget, a PP Max, a Revive, a Hidden Full Heal by the South-Western rock and TM88 Sleep Talk. During the night, near the gate for the National Park, a Burglar will attempt to rob the player. After defeating him, he will drop his wallet containing Walkthrough (8)500. There is a small path on the North-East that leads to Route 36.

Route 36

There is a Sudowoodo that blocks the fork to the North and the East. A lady in Goldenrod City gives a hint to the player that a Squirtbottle will move it, but unfortunately, her friend has it and she is in Ecruteak City. For the section the player has access to, there are two trainers to battle, as well as a strange well. Once a day, the player can fill the Odd Keystone obtained in Lavender’s Pokémon Tower by defeating 108 Ghost type Pokémon, then return to the well.

The basem*nt is filled with ghost Pokémons, with several small rooms: an empty room, a classroom, a library, a toilet and a piano. Playing the piano a few times and footsteps can be heard. Going back into the rooms and an old doll will appear randomly in one of these rooms.

  • Old Dolls only appear if the player previously explored the room. To make the search more efficient, go directly to the piano and the first doll will always be in the empty room, then explore either the Classroom, the library or the toilet, then play the piano to make the doll appear in that room. Repeat for all four different dolls.

After interacting with all four dolls, the next time the player plays the piano will make a Mimikyu appear. Interacting with it near the stairs will trigger a battle. Once the battle is over, on the ground floor, an old doll will be on the table, and interacting with it will trigger a battle with Banette.

Whenever the player enters Viridian River, there is a chance that footsteps can be heard, and a rare Pokémon can be seen, including all the starters from generation 1 through 4. Depending on the player’s Karma value, Mew can be encountered. • There is an improved version of the Fossil Resurrection Machine which instantly revives any fossils, including the Old Amber.
  • There are three scientists that want to trade Pokémons. The left one wants a Raichu for an Electrode, the middle one wants a Ponyta for a Seel, and the last one gives a Clefable for a Chansey.

The gym is locked, so the player needs to find Blaine in the Pokémon Mansion.

Pokémon Mansion

The gym is locked and some townsfolk inform the player, Blain is training in the Pokémon Mansion. The place was burnt some time ago, and many trainers and wild Pokémons now live in these halls. The Pokémon Mansion is sort of a maze, where gates block the passage and can be opened or closed via secret switches located in statues.

On 1F, a Pyromaniac trainer will give the player a Burn Heal after defeating him. There is an Escape Rope and a Moon Stone to grab by the North-East path. After toggling the gates near a Scientist, a X Speed can be grabbed.

Near the entrance are stairs for 2F, and taking the stairs next to it leads to a small room in 3F, where a Scientist and Magmar can be found. There is also a Max Potion and Max Revive on the ground.

Back on 2F, there is a Calcium and a Hyper Potion on the ground. Toggling the switch will open the gate blocking the stairs in the North-West corner. On the 3F, there is an Iron in the North-East corner and a Scientist will give the player an Escape Rope after defeating him. The Eastmost path to the scientist leads to stairs to the 2F for a Hyper Potion, while the Westmost path will drop the player to a new section in 1F.

The path after the stairs has a Carbos on the ground, and an exit back to Cinnabar Island, if the player needs to heal. CAREFUL, when entering back into the Mansion, the player will need to go back from the entrance. On B1F, the statue near the South-West will open the gate for the eastern corridor. There is TM14 Blizzard, a Full Restore and an Everstone to grab while near the statue. In the North, there is another statue to toggle to grab the Rare Candy in the second Northern room. Toggling the statue again to reach the Western portion, where there is TM64 Explosion on the ground. Blaine will be in the next room South.

Cinnabar Gym
This city’s gym is the trainer’s seventh objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Blaine, the leader, will reward the player with the Volcano Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

At the entrance is a man who gives a Fresh Water to the player, as well as basic information regarding the gym, which is a Fire type for this case.

This gym also contains six trainers, and they are all optional.

This gym mimics a quiz show, where questions are asked to the player, and when answered incorrectly, has to fight a battle with that trainer’s question. When answered correctly, the player can choose between battling the trainer or going to the next question.

For Blaine’s battle, the amount of Pokémons in a team will be limited to four.

After defeating Blaine, the player is awarded with the Volcano Badge, the TM38 Fire Blast, and three Wonder Trader Tickets.

Earth Badge[]

When attempting to enter Cinnabar's harbour, South of Cinnabar Island, a scene where Team Rocket steals the Seagallop Ferry from the sailor happens. The player has no other choice but to surf to Mt. Ember on the Offshore Road.

Offshore Road

Offshore Road is the water route between the Kanto region and Sevii Islands. Similar to the Arrow Tiles, the strong water current will force the player to move to the direction the water is flowing. The path resembles a maze, where the player will have to use the strong current to navigate through obstacles.

There are several dead-end paths that lead to small islands, which contain a Dragon Scale, three Iron Balls, a Relic Copper and a Relic Crown. Eventually, the water changes color to indicate Sevii Islands’ waters, and not far after is Kindle Road, with the Seagallop just North of where the player arrives.

Mt. Ember

The Seagallop Ferry has been abandoned at the beach of Mt. Ember. Corsolas block the path to explore the rest of the beach.

Team Rocket established a new base within Mt. Ember, where several Grunts will attempt to block the player’s passage. A gate can be opened via a switch, and an Ice Pick and a Power Plant Key are the ground, which will give access to explore both the Seaform Islands and the Power Plant later.

When reaching the center room, several scenes are shown where Giovanni captures Moltres and fuses it with the other two Kanto’s Legendary Birds, Articuno and Zapdos.

Once the player approaches Giovanni, he challenges the player with his newly triple-fused Pokémon.

  • This battle is quite different then the others. The player can only use one Pokémon at a time, but all three birds’ heads can attack and use moves. This essentially makes it a 3vs1 Battle, since all three heads must be defeated to win the battle. Each head shares the same type as its original Pokémon.

After defeating Giovanni, Zapmolcuno unfuses and all three Legendary birds flee. After Team Rocket leave, Moltres returns to its throne for the player to capture. When the player exits, the rival and the Seagallop Ferry’s sailor greet the player. The rival wants to check the old abandoned gym in Viridian City, and the sailor gives the player a Seagallop Pass. He will then offer her to either go back to Cinnabar Island or explore Sevii Islands, which will bring her to One Island AKA Knot Island.Route 21

Route 21 is a short route with 6 trainers. Additionally, there is a Pearl and Stardust to grab on islands. There is a Burn Heal after defeating a swimmer, and a Pearl and a Net Ball from Fishermen.

Viridian Gym
This city’s gym is the trainer’s eighth objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Giovanni, the leader, will reward the player with the Earth Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

At the entrance is a man who gives a Fresh Water to the player, as well as basic information regarding the gym, which is a Ground type for this case.

This gym also contains eight trainers, and most of them are optional.

This gym features the arrow tiles and long halls, which forces the player to battle the trainer at the end of the path. There is a Revive on the ground in one of the East corridors.

For Giovanni’s battle, the amount of Pokémons in a team will be limited to five.

After defeating Giovanni, the player is awarded with the Earth Badge, the TM26 Earthquake, and three Wonder Trader Tickets.

Optional Objectives - Legendary Birds and more[]

This section is entirely optional, but gives the player several items that may help the journey.

Power Plant

Back on Route 10, by the PokéCenter, is a fork. West leads to Rock Tunnel, North leads to Route 9, and South leads to the Power Plant. With the Power Plant Key, the player may now explore the basem*nt.

There will be plenty of Electric Pokémons, and several Pokéballs are Voltorb or Electrode in hiding. The main corridors and the different side rooms will contain items: a Carbos, a Max Elixir, TM25 Thunder, TM33 Reflect, a Rare Candy, a hidden Thunder Stone in the South-East corner, and seven Cell Batteries. Five Cell Batteries will be required to open the gate to the end room. There is also a back room to the North-East Storage with an Electrabuzz.

After opening the gate, the sinuous path will end with a room, which will contain Zapdos.

Seafoam Islands

With the Ice Pick, the player can now explore Seafoam Islands, located in the middle of Route 20. From either entrance, interacting with the icy wall will allow the player to climb to its top.

The Icy Cavern is full of frozen lakes and ladders and frozen lakes, the former being similar to the strong currents in Offshore Road and arrow panels, where the player slides in the direction and stops when either by an icy block or a wall.

The stairs down lead to a Big Pearl. The second stairs down lead to the first frozen lakes. The stairs down on East will lead to B2F.

The ladder North, beyond the frozen lake, leads to Jynx, while the ladder South leads to an Escape Rope. Before taking the ladder East, there is a TM07 Hail beyond the frozen lake.

On B3F, the player can see Articuno, but cannot reach it yet. After two short Surf sections, there are two sets of ladders to climb up, then climb down, to reach the large Surf Section which leads to Articuno’s islands.

After the battle, the ladder to escape is on the North-East corner, where a Nugget can be found on B2F.

Cinnabar Island
After defeating Team Rocket, some scientists have returned to the Cinnabar Island lab, where they are developing an advanced A.I. Trainer called R.E.D. They claim it is undefeatable and challenge the player to a battle, and will reward her with an Infinite Splicers after winning. As of 5.3.1, this is currently bugged.

Elite Four[]

With all eight badges, the player is free to go to the Pokémon League and challenge the Elite Four, for the final objective of the Trainer’s card.

Route 22
On the way to the Pokémon League’s gate, the rival challenges the player once more.

Route 26 and Route 27
After the player shows all eight badges to the gate’s guard, the player arrives at Route 26. The road to the Pokémon League has two challenges: the first challenge is crossing both Routes to reach Victory Road’s Gate. Because of the high ground, the player has no choice but to do the detour by Route 27. On the bridge, there will be two trainers, and the fisherman will give the player a Heart Scale after defeating him.

Route 27 is a path with bridges and small islands to surf to. There are a total of 8 trainers to battle, as well as TM30 Shadow Ball, a Star Piece and a Rare Candy to grab. On the West, the player will enter Tohjo Falls, but without Waterfall, cannot be explored. Instead, the path East leads to stairs on a cliffside. The path will eventually loop back to Route 26, but on the higher ground.

The path continues through the Forest before climbing the Mountain for the Pokémon League Gate. There are 6 more trainers to battle, as well as an Elixir, TM02 Dragon Claw and a Full Restore to grab. Near the foot of the mountain is a VR, where an elderly woman will offer to rest for free.

Once the player reaches the Pokémon League Gate, a clerk is available to buy and trade items, as well as a Healing Station to heal the player’s Pokémons. The guard on the West will block the access to Mt. Silver.

Victory Road

The second challenge is beyond the Gate, where a maze within a cave awaits the player. To up the difficulty, the player needs to push boulders onto dent switches to open passages, filled with trainers and wild Pokémons.

On the first floor, there is a boulder to push from the South-West corner to the South-East corner. This will open the path on the higher ground and give access to the Northern section, where a trainer can be battle, and a Rare Candy and TM52 Focus Blast are near the North-East corner. The ladder for 2F is located in the North-West corner.

On 2F, there is a Full Heal on the ground, as well as a boulder to push in the South-West corner. It can easily be trapped amongst the rocks, so the ladder can serve as a reset. Once the boulder is on the switch, the path for the Eastern section is opened. Five trainers block the path, and there are a lot of items to grab: a Max Potion, a Revive, TM82 Dragon Tail, another Full Heal, a Full Restore and TM90 Substitute. There are two ladders for 3F, the one of the higher ground is blocked and only be accessed once a boulder from 3F has fallen to 2F, while the second can be taken near the center for 3F.

On 3F, there are three trainers to fight on the Northern section, as TM74 Gyro Ball and a Max Revive to grab. Pushing the boulder from North-East all the way to the North-West corner will open the Southern section. There is a ladder that brings to an optional section back on 2F, where there is a trainer, as well as TM75 Swords Dance and a Guard Spec., as well as the legendary Pokémon Entai.

Back on 3F, the Southern section has two more trainers to battle, and the boulder to push to 2F. The player can also fall in the hole, where they should both be near the switch. Once the boulder is in place, the passage for the nearby ladder should be opened.

The South-Eastern Section of 3F has two more trainers, which block the final ladder. On 2F, the exit to Indigo Plateau is only a dozen steps.

Indigo Plateau

Indigo Plateau is the home to the Pokémon League. It is a straight path from Victory Road to the Lobby. Inside, there is a Clerk who sells items, a Nurse to heal the party’s party, a Move Reminder and the Update man.

Climbing the stairs and going through the door will begin the Elite Four challenge.

  • Players must battle each member of the Elite Four consecutively. No break to the PokéCenter is allowed, nor swapping Pokémons in the Storage, and if all the player leaves or all its Pokémons are fainted, the challenge must be started from the beginning. Stock on healing items, cure status and revives in between battles. Similar to Gym Leaders, each member will specialize in a different type, so having a team that has good offensive coverage is recommended.
  • See Elite Four for more info.

After the player defeats the rival, Prof. Oak comes in. He meant to congratulate the rival, but ends up schooling him and congratulates the player. He escorts her to the Hall of Fame to record her Pokémons and exploits. Afterwards, the credits roll.

  • From this save, the player has access to New Game+.
  • See New game plus for more info.

Johto[]

The Post-Game starts here, after the Credits. The player is back into her room. Downstairs, the player’s mom congratulates her for becoming champion, and mentions Prof, Oak is looking for her. In his lab, he wants the player to go meet his colleague, Professor Elm, in New Bark Town, in Johto.

Plain Badge[]

If the player skipped the Optional Objectives - Brief Travel to Johto, they will have to do these at this moment to progress.

Goldenrod City

Some time has passed after the player defeated the Elite Four and became the new Pokémon Champion. New activities are now offered to the player in Goldenrod City:

  • Like in Saffron City, there is a house that has a door only at night, next to the Hotel. It has a TV that only plays static, and when interacting with it, a wild Rotom attacks.
  • Next to the Train Station is the Radio Tower, where the player can participate in Guess That Fusion Quiz Show, to earn points and win prizes. After obtaining 5,000 points in a single game, the player is rewarded with a Box Link, which allows access to the PC Boxes anywhere. In the lobby, the receptionist will draw a Trainer ID every day as a lucky number to win a lottery prize, while the lady with the headset will give a Super Incubator for answering all her questions correctly.
  • North of the PokéCenter is a museum which displays custom sprites the community drew. Everyday, a user is selected and six of its works are chosen to display. On rare occasions, the artist is present in the museum and can be challenged to a battle.
  • Finally, the Goldenrod gym is opened once more, so the player can challenge its leader to obtain the 9th badge.

Goldenrod Gym
This city’s gym is the trainer’s ninth objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Whitney, the leader, will reward the player with the Plain Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

As soon as the player enters the gym, she is welcomed by a lass, who gives her a PokéDoll. At the entrance is a man who gives a Fresh Water to the player, as well as basic information regarding the gym, which is a Normal type for this case.

This gym’s puzzle involves memorization about the number or kind of Pokémons that passed. Answering correctly opens the gate, while a wrong answer will force a battle with its trainer.

This gym also contains four trainers, and all trainers can be skipped.

For Whitney’s battle, the player will have access to the entire team.

After defeating Whitney, the player is awarded with the Plain Badge, the TM98 Baton Pass, and three Wonder Trader Tickets.

Hive Badge[]

Route 34

Now with Surf, the West portion of Route 34 can be explored. A Calcium is on the ground, by the fence, and the sister’s hideout contains a XX Defense 2, as well as TM17 Protect.

Ilex Forest

Back in Ilex Forest, the man with his Scyther has cut down the large trees blocking the path. He also asks the player if she wants to help by cutting the smaller ones, which will increase the player’s Karma.

The sinuous path is mostly linear, with two dead ends near the center and South-East.

In the center of the forest is a shrine. If the player completed at least 30 quests, there will be a chance to capture the legendary Celebi.

Near the South-East corner is a Shedinja as a static encounter.

Azalea Town

The South-East gate from Ilex Forest leads to Azalea Town, which is flooded due to Slowpoke Well overflowing. The player can interact with the townsfolk to understand the situation, and can find Eusine, the swindler from Goldenrod, near the well. If the player interacts with him a few times, he will challenge the player. After losing the battle, admit to clogging the well with Shellders, then run away. Once the player reports the situation back to Kurt, the old man, he will give her HM06 Dive, which will allow her to dive in Slowpoke Well and attempt to save the town.

Inside the well are four Slowpokes, as well as four Shellders blocking the drain. The player must push the Slowpokes into the Shellders using Strength to evolve them into Slowbros and swim away.

  • After each Slowbro swims away, feel free to exit and re-enter to reset the boulders, as the Slowpoke and Shellder that were used from the previous evolution(s) will not reappear.

Once the player evolves all Slowpokes, the well drains rapidly. There is a Water Stone to pick on the small island West. When the player comes out of the well, Kurt comes to congratulate her for saving Azalea Town and gives her 5 Candy Balls. He informs her he is the town’s Gym leader and the town is now free to explore.

  • From here, the player can choose to start exploring the Sevii Islands, but some of its content will remain locked until most of Johto is done. This guide will continue the journey through Johto before going to Sevii Islands.

Azalea Gym
This town’s gym is the trainer’s tenth objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Kurt, the leader, will reward the player with the Hive Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

At the entrance is a man who gives a Fresh Water to the player, as well as basic information regarding the gym, which is a Bug type for this case.

This gym’s puzzle involves interacting with silver webs in a specific order, then with the amber ones to open the path. The order changes each time the player exits and enters the gym, and the amber webs will grow back. The first Amber web will require only three silver webs to open, while the second one will need five, and the last one all eight.

This gym also contains four trainers, and it is best to not skip them to focus on the puzzle.

For Kurt’s battle, the player will have access to the entire team.

After defeating Kurt, the player is awarded with the Hive Badge, the TM99 Quiver Dance, and three Wonder Trader Tickets. Kurt will then retire back to his house. If the player follows him, he will give the player special PokéBalls that have a chance to inflict a status ailment to wild Pokémons. He also sells them if the player wishes to have more.

Zephyr Badge[]

Route 33

East of Azalea Town is Route 33, which is a short path, with a large patch of tall grass and 3 berry bushes.

Union Cave

Not far in the cave and the player can find several Gravelers asleep, blocking the passage. The nearby Black Belt trainer gives a hint to the player about taking the long way. Next to the South-West ladder is a Full Heal hidden by the rock. The long path will require the player to tale two ladders down.

On B2F, there are five trainers to fight, and two Hikers will reward the player with a Super Repel and a Rock Gem for defeating them. There is also an Escape Rope, TM23 Smack Down, a Protein, and a hidden Paralyze Heal hidden by a rock on the Western side near a Hiker. Finally, on the South-East corner, there is a Lapras available to capture.

The ladder in the North-East corner takes back to B1F. There are four trainers to battle on this floor. The path North leads to two exits in the North-West corner, which lead to Chamber D and Chamber E of the Ruins of Alph. The southern path will lead to the ladder back to 1F, as well as an Ether and a hidden Revive. If the player caught 100 different Pokémons, Pokémaniac Larry will reward the player with 10 Boost Balls.

On 1F, the player can break the rock near the sleeping Gravelers, which will all wake up and run away. There are five more trainers to fight, and there is a Hyper Potion, a hidden Great Ball by a rock near Pyromaniac Ray, a Zinc, TM67 Retaliate and a Dusk Stone to grab. The exit to Route 32 is in the North-East corner.

Route 32

Near the entrance to Union Cave from Route 33 is a PokéCenter, with a hidden Hyper Potion by the rock near a forest and a trainer to battle.

After the PokéCenter, both paths will contain several trainers, before reaching a Fork: the West leads to the Ruins of Alph, and Violet City awaits North. As soon as the player enters Violet City, Eusine is there to stop the player’s progress, and says he doesn’t want to be followed to the Ruins of Alph.

Ruins of Alph

Eusine can be found in Chamber A, which claims of a strange noise coming from the basem*nt. There are two Star Pieces and a Life Orb hidden by the statues in the basem*nt. Once the player approaches the strange beast at the end of the basem*nt, the Pokémon flees.

Outside, a scientist invites the player to his lab, and if the player interacts with Eusine, can hear his story about how he created the fused Pokémon Raicune. He then invites her to visit him in Cherrygrove City and leaves. In the lab, the scientist gives the player a Tracker to try to catch Raicune.

If the player visits all the chambers and reads all the slabs, it can be read “A-B-D-E-C-B-A THE ORDER MUST BE RESPECTED.” Touching the slabs from the chamber in this specific order will open the ground under Chamber A and a daily respawning Plate can be found in the room. When placing the plate in the bowl, the player can teach one of its Pokémon a hidden power matching that plate’s type, then retake the plate.

Finally, Super Nerd Miguel, the fossil maniac can be found near the North. After defeating him, he’ll say to the player has a rare chance to discover fossils when using rock smash. On Route 36, there is TM83 Work UP that can be picked near the Sudowoodo.

Violet City

This city has the usual accommodation: a two-story PokéCenter, a PokéMart and a Hotel. Additionally, Violet offers in particular:

  • There is a teacher, in the Pokémon school, that will make a Pokémon forget its former trainer for Walkthrough (9)50,000. This is useful to fuse and unfuse Pokémon obtained from trading or from the Team Rocket’s Black Market.
  • North of the city is the Sprout Tower, and at the very top are the Golbat Boots. The player needs to climb ladders while dodging Monks, Bellsprouts, Weepinbells and Victrebells, or they will kick the player down a floor. There are also golden Bellsprout Statues that can be stolen and sold, but will lower the player’s Karma.
  • There is also an Energy Root East of the Sprout Tower.

Violet Gym
This town’s gym is the trainer’s eleventh objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Falkner, the leader, will reward the player with the Zephyr Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

At the entrance is a man who gives a Fresh Water to the player, as well as basic information regarding the gym, which is a Flying type for this case.

This gym’s puzzle involves walking when the wind stopped and placing itself so the wind won’t push the player down.

This gym also contains three trainers, and it is best to not skip them to focus on the puzzle.

For Falkner’s battle, the player will have access to the entire team.

After defeating Falkner, the player is awarded with the Zephyr Badge, the TM100 Defog, and four Wonder Trader Tickets.

Professor Elm[]

Route 31

East of Violet City is a short route called Route 31, which has two exits, one towards the East towards the Dark Cave, and one towards the South leading to Route 30.

Route 30

Route 30 contains several trainers, as well as the following items: an Air Balloon, a Full Heal and an Iron. Furthermore, East to the entrance, is Mr. Pokémon’s house, who will give clues regarding Arceus and a flute. Further south is the Fisherman Guru’s Cousin by a take and a house, and he will update all the player’s fishing rods: whenever something bites or hooks, it will be reeled automatically.

Cherrygrove City

Cherrygrove is a small town, with a few point of interests:

  • The Western house has a Big nugget Collector.
  • Eusine’s house is the middle one. He will ask the player to show him all the Legendary Birds of Kanto and the Legendary Beasts of Johto, which transform his six Dittos. As a reward, he will the player the Azure Flute.

Route 29

East of Cherrygrove City is Route 29, where a single trainer can be battled near the North gate for Route 46. Further East will be New Bark Town.

New Bark Town

In New Bark Town, Prof Elm. awaits the player. After asking her to show at least two Johto’s badges, he will give her HM05 Waterfall, as will let her choose one of Johto’s starter Pokémon. He will finally ask her to visit Cerulean Cave to search Mewtwo

Optional Objectives - Waterfall and Mewtwo[]

This section is entirely optional, but gives the player several items that may help the journey.

Route 46

North of Route 29 is Route 46, which has a Max Potion and TM12 Taunt on the ground. There is also a sleeping Slaking there.

Tohjo Falls

From New Bark Town, surfing East will lead back to Route 27, where a Nugget is on the ground near the Tohjo Falls. Inside, there is a Moon Stone on the West side.

Route 9
From Route 10’s PokéCenter, the river continues North to Route 9, and up the waterfall is TM95 Snarl, as well as a trainer who will give the player a Jetpack, the HM Replacement Item for Waterfall, if she can show him a Pokémon with the moves Aqua Jet, Waterfall and Fly.

Cerulean Cave

North of Route 4 is a waterfall which leads to Cerulean Cave. This 2-floor maze involves taking ladders and taking either the right hole or the right ladder to continue. The ladder North-East leads to a dead-end, with a Max Repel, an Elixir, and TM04 Calm Mind. The rest of the lake hides TM20 Safeguard on the South, and near the North-West ladder, an Escape Rope and a hidden Super Potion by a rock.

The North-Western portion of 2F contains a Full Heal, a Repel and a Nugget. The ladder in the Center-West is blocked by a hole, it drops the ladder right next to it on 1F, and on the ground, in the corner, is an Escape rope.

Back on 2F, the ladder in the Center-West now gives the player access to the center portion, where a PP Up, an Escape Rope and a Hyper Potion can be found.

The ladder will drop the player back to 1F, but on the higher ground, where a Rare Candy and a Max Repel can be taken. The ladder near the South-West corner will allow the player to navigate the Southern portion of 2F. A lot of holes are present, and a Dusk Ball and an Ether are on the ground, before taking the ladder up to 3F.

On 3F, Mewtwo will await on the higher ground. After the battle, there is a ladder in the North-West corner to quickly exit the cave.

Rising Badge[]

Route 30
In Route 30, if the player got the Azure Flute from Eusine, showing it to Mr. Pokémon will give additional hints of the next step to catch more legendary Pokémons.

Dark Cave

Back to the intersection between Route 30 and Route 31, the path East leads to the Dark Cave. Like Rock Tunnel, the player will need either HM08 Flash or the HM Replacement Item Lantern to navigate. The path will be blocked and an officer will suggest the player to grab some Dynamite to open the way.

There are three workers in total, and all want to battle the player: one near the North-West corner, one near the South-West corner and one on the higher ground North of the lake. After bringing all three sticks to the Officer, he will open the path for the player. There is a Metal Coat to grab before reaching the exit.

  • This scene is flashy, if you are sensitive to it, please cover your eyes until the sound effect is over.

Blackthorn City

This city has the usual accommodation: a two-story PokéCenter, a PokéMart and a Hotel. Additionally, Blackthorn offers in particular:

  • The blacksmith in the house left to the Pokémart can smelt two Nuggets into a Big Nugget.
  • Behind the Gym is the Dragon’s Den. Dodging the whirlpools and reaching the house at the end will reward the player with a level 25 Gible. Doing this after obtaining the Rising Badge reduces the difficulty significantly.

Blackthorn Gym
This town’s gym is the trainer’s twelfth objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Clair, the leader, will reward the player with the Rising Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

At the entrance is a man who gives a Fresh Water to the player, as well as basic information regarding the gym, which is a Dragon type for this case.

  • If you fall in a hole and accidentally get stuck, you can use the Debugger item to return to the PokéCenter instead of loading from your previous save.

This gym also contains four trainers, and it is best to not skip them to focus on the puzzle.

For Clair’s battle, the player will have access to the entire team.

After defeating Clair, the player is awarded with the Rising Badge, the TM101 Dragon Dance, and four Wonder Trader Tickets.

Glacier Badge[]

Ice Mountains

At the entrance to the Ice Mountains are several people who wanted to cross, but cannot due to a gap. One of them hints to Monks who know how to jump in Violet City, which is where the Golbat Boots will be useful.

Six trainers are scattered on the chain of mountains, and on the ground, a Max Pepel, an Ice Stone and an Icy rock can be found. There is a path that leads to the North-West to a cavern, and a Never-Melt Ice is next to the entrance. Inside the cavern is a deep chamber where a hidden Star Piece can be found by some frozen rocks and a Mamoswine can be captured.

The main cave has additional stairs that lead to the peak of the highest mountain. On the summoning circle, the player can play the Azure Flute, which will open a path in the sky to the Hall of Origin, where Arceus is waiting.

The player will be teleported back in front of its house in Pallet Town.

Prof. Oak will reward the player with one Hoenn starter of its choice.

All Arceus Plates will now be accessible to the player to grab.

A Hiker will invite the player into his house, and inside is Cynthia. After interacting with her, she will ask the player to return to the interior chamber. Once the player steps on the circle with Arceus, a scene will play and in each colored rune, an egg of each Legendary Creation can be picked by the player. After interacting with Cynthia again, the player will be teleported back to the Ruins of Alph.

Route 44

Route 44 can be accessed from the South-West of Ice Mountains. It is a short path with three trainers, and two of them reward the player for defeating them: one gives a Full Heal, while the other gives a Heart Scale.

Mahogany Town

This small town does not have the usual accommodation: it does have a PokéCenter and a Gym. Additionally, Mahogany offers in particular:

  • An elderly lady replaces the PokéMart.

Mahogany Gym
This town’s gym is the trainer’s fourteenth objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Pryce, the leader, will reward the player with the Glacier Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

At the entrance is a man who gives a Fresh Water to the player, as well as basic information regarding the gym, which is an Ice type for this case.

This gym’s puzzle involves pushing a PokéBall across the ice, and scoring into the right-side net.

  • If the PokéBall is stuck, feel free to reset the position with the terminal by the entrance. This is similar to a penalty shootout in hockey.

This gym also contains four trainers, and it is best to not skip them to focus on the puzzle.

For Pryce’s battle, the player will have access to the entire team.

After defeating Pryce, the player is awarded with the Glacier Badge, the TM79 Frost Breath, and five Wonder Trader Tickets.

Fog Badge[]

Route 42

West of Mahogany Town is Route 42, which is a short path with three 3 trainers, and one of them gives a Hard Stone after defeating him and another gives Walkthrough (10)1 for each seen Pokémon in the player’s Pokédex.

Mt. Mortar

This cave is optional, and requires either HM08 Flash or the Lantern. At the top of the waterfall, there is a static encounter that changes daily with a new Pokémon. There is also a Metal Coat near the Top of the waterfall and a Protector near the East entrance.

Ecruteak City

This city has the usual accommodation: a two-story PokéCenter, a PokéMart and a Hotel. Additionally, Ecruteak offers in particular:

  • North of the PokéCenter is a house where a boy is tormented with endless nightmares.
  • The house west of the PokéCenter belongs to two elderly ladies, one of which reveals the player’s Karma, and the other gives a hint about helping the boy with nightmares.
  • North of the Gym is the Goldenrod City’s sister’s house who has the Squirtbottle.
  • The Gym is locked since the leader went to train inside the Burned Tower.
  • A female Hiker is located East of the PokéCenter and asks directions. For every good answer, it raises the player’s Karma, while a wrong one will lower it. Whichever direction gives, she will be in the city in that direction for future directions.

Burned Tower

North-West of Ecruteak City is the Burned Tower, where Morty is training on 2F. To reach him, the player needs to fall from 3F, while dodging the ghost Pokémons. Walking on the edge of a plank will cause the player to fall from one of several floor(s). There is a Dusk Stone on 1F, a Float Stone on B1F and a Reaper Cloth on 3F. After interacting with Morty, he will accept the player’s challenge and run back to his Gym.

Ecruteak Gym
This city’s gym is the trainer’s fifteenth objective to complete the Trainer’s card. Defeating Morty, the leader, will reward the player with the Fog Badge and a TM, as well as allow the player to progress through the main story.

At the entrance is a man who gives a Fresh Water to the player, as well as basic information regarding the gym, which is a Ghost type for this case.

This gym also contains five trainers, and it’s best to defeat them all to focus on the puzzle.

This gym is pitch black, and the path the player can walk on is shown with white and pink skull platforms that alternate every second. Some trainers wander and after defeating and interacting with them, they will disappear so the path to Morty is not blocked.

  • It seems like only the Channeller disappears, and the Sages can block the path. If it occurs, either exit the gym to reset their position, or if use the Debugger to return to the PokéCenter.

For Morty’s battle, the player will have access to the entire team.

After defeating Morty, the player is awarded with the Fog Badge, the TM97 Nasty Plot, and five Wonder Trader Tickets. A path of blue skull platforms is created to quickly reach the exit.

Optional Objectives - Karma and the Tao trio[]

This section is entirely optional, but gives the player several items that may help the journey.

Route 37

South of Ecruteak City is a short route called Route 37, where a Focus Sash is on the ground surrounded by berries. Further South leads back to Route 36. With the Squirtbottle in hand, the player can wake the Sudowoodo blocking the crossroad.

Viridian River
Players with a high Karma have a chance for a rare encounter with Mew in the Viridian River.

  • Talk to the Karma lady in Ecruteak City to check if you have a good Karma. If you have a very low one, you can pay to reset it to zero by donating Walkthrough (11)5000 to the lady in the Dragon’s Den. Then, fly to the Viridian River entrance in Secret Forest and listen carefully: footsteps mean at least one starter Pokémon is present, while a sparkling glistening sound indicates that Mew is present.

Newmoon Island
Players with a low Karma have a chance for a rare encounter with Darkrai in Newmoon Island.

  • Talk to the Karma lady in Ecruteak City to check if you have a bad Karma. If you have a very high one, you can pay to reset it to zero by donating Walkthrough (12)5000 to the lady in the Dragon’s Den. Then, at night, go visit the boy having nightmares, who will be possessed and welcomes the player, then teleports her to Newmoon Island. The player has the chance to catch Darkrai, and doing so will free the boy of its nightmares.

Bell Tower

Ecruteak City has a second tower, called the Bell Tower, but when the player attempts to visit it, the monk blocks the path, following Alder’s, Unovan League Champion, instruction. He can be found in the Dance Theater, East of the PokéCenter, and wants to see the player’s bond with her Pokémons by battling the Kimono Girls. After defeating them, he will give her both the Light Stone and the Dark Stone. With these in hands, the monk will let the player enter the Bell Tower. East of the tower is a DNA Splicers.

Each floor contains two statues to interact to remove the barriers blocking the ladder. The center hallway will always be visible, and interacting with the bell will alter which side is visible and unblocked. The player needs to memorize the path when it is visible, then go through the maze when it is hidden in the shadow, as the blue flag will always block the passage for the visible side.

On the roof, there is another bell, and when interacting with it, the light and dark stones will react and a portal vortex will appear, where a Reshiram/Zekrom fusion will appear. After the battle, the player can talk with Alder for more hints on the whereabouts of Kyurem.

Route 43

Route 43 is located North of Mahogany Town. The first time the player comes, the Eastern gate is blocked by a Pokémon battle, so the player needs to walk on the patch of long grass on the West, where four trainers can be battled, and a Max Elixir and Wise Glasses can be found on the ground.

Lake of Rage

When the player arrives at the Lake of Rage, fishermen complain that it is cold and hard to catch any fish. There is an Electirizer in the North-East corner of the lake, and the bed in the cabin can be used to heal the player’s Pokémons. In the center of the lake is a fusion between a Magikarp and a Gyarados.

When the player interacts with Colress, he says he is investigating the strange Icy Rock. If the player interacts with it while holding the Light Stone and the Dark Stone, the rock will react and the lake will become frozen, trapping the player in the zone. The player will need to investigate the frozen lake, and in the center will be Kyurem. After the battle, the player can interact with the Icy Rock again to thaw the lake. Finally, Coltress will investigate Team Rocket’s old Triple Fusion Machine.

Sevii Islands[]

Storm Badge[]

Knot Island
Knot Island, also known as One Island, can be reached for several methods:

  • Surf South from Mt. Ember and go through Kindle Road.
  • Take the Ferry seagallop from Cinnabar Island.
  • See Knot Island for more info.

Near the beach is a Heart Scale. The town also has several interesting things to do:

  • The Export Move teacher is in the house near the beach. For 2 Heart Scales, he can teach rare moves to the player’s Pokémon.
  • The house in the center has a jewel artisan that can craft items for Walkthrough (13) and materials.
  • The house to the West is the Triple Battle Lounge. Every day, a theme is chosen, and the player can participate in battles for the chance to win a random item for Walkthrough (14)1000.
  • The PokéMart is located within the PokéCenter.
  • In the South-East corner, three men want some Heart Scale in exchange for a Nugget, a Bagon Egg and a Pawniard Egg.

In the PokéCenter, Bebe, the Sinnoh Pokémon Storage Box, and a scientist, are looking for a Network Adapter. If the player already retrieved it from Treasure Beach, Bebe will reward the player with one of Sinnoh’s starter Pokémon: Turtwig, Chimchar or Piplup.

Treasure Beach

The player can surf South-West of Knot Island and reach Treasure Beach, an island with a Network Adapter, three Heart Scales, two Ultra Balls, two Pearls and a Star Piece. Additionally, whenever it rains, Pyukumuku are crawling on the beach and can be battled.

Kindle Road

Surfing East from Knot Island or South from Mt. Ember leads to the Ember Spa, where a Max Repel, a Carbos and several Heart Scales are scattered. There is also a Flygon, which requires the player to push a boulder to get, as well as four trainers. On the South-East of the Ember Spa is a big island containing more Corsolas that block the passage. East of the Corsolas is a small island with the Battle Factory. South-West of the Corsolas is another small island with a Heart Scale and a Swimmer.

There is a diving spot near the giant boulder blocking the path. Diving to the other side and interacting with the man will prompt a scene where the player frees the path. Next to the diving spots is the Ember Spa, where there is a hidden Fire Stone in the bathing section.

The north path leads to the rest of Mt. Ember, while the East path has two more trainers to battle before reaching Brine Road.

Brine Road (West of the Old Shipwreck)

The Western portion of the Brine Road is accessible, as an Old Shipwreck is blocking the other half. There are three trainers to battle, and there is a Nugget near the North-West corner and a hidden Heart Scale by a rock near the Black Belt. The path North leads to Boon Island.

Boon Island

Similar to Knot Island, Boon Island has a dock and a PokéMart within its PokéCenter. Additionally, Boon Island has:

  • A Revive behind a cuttable tree.
  • The Legendary Move Expert lives in the Eastern house, and offers to teach rare moves his brother in Knot Island does not, but is more expensive at 6 Heart Scales.
  • Three Heart Scales spread out, one of which is hidden by a rock on top of the waterfall.
  • The elderly lady sells her Dream Mirror for 10 Heart Scales.
  • Inside the PokéCenter is a TV special regarding Latias and Latios. They are two roaming Pokémons which require the Tracker to locate. Interacting with the TV or any of the three young trainers will trigger the new Tacker options.

At the base of the waterfall, Chuck can be challenged for the Storm Badge.

After defeating Chuck, the player is awarded with the Storm Badge and a Navel Ticket.

Optional Objectives - Tower Duo, Ruby and Sapphire[]

This section is entirely optional, but gives the player several items that may help the journey.

Navel Rock

After obtaining the Navel Ticket, the sailor at Boon Island’s harbor will offer the player to travel to Navel Rock, where rumors mention that a legendary Pokémon is resting at its peak.

The climb involves taking the right ladder. There are items scattered on dead-end paths: a PP Max, a Sacred Ash and Max Elixir. If a Pokémon hits the player, a static encounter with that bird Pokémon will begin. Once the player reaches the top and walks on the far end, a fused Ho-oh/Lugia engages her.

Mt. Ember

From the North-Eastern section of Kindle Road is a path North that leads to the Mt. Ember, pass the Corsalas. The stairs lead to the top of the volcano, where four trainers can be battle, as well as several items to grab: a hidden by rocks on the East side, a Dire hit and Fire Gem, a Magmarizer, a hidden repel by a rock near Pokémon Ranger Logan, a hidden Lava Cookie by a rock in the North-West corner and a Heat Rock.

Ruby Chamber

Not far from the top floor is an old man who wants some Fire Gems to make some Ember Cream.

As the player climbs down, it will get progressively hotter and harder to see. Slugmas and Magcargos are wandering, and act as static encounters. The player can find the Ruby by taking the following ladders in this order: right, left, right.

To find the Lava pool, it’s best to start from where the old man was, then take the following ladders in this order: left, right, left. In the Lava Pool, the Ruby will react and summon Groudon. After the battle, the player will be warped outside to Mt. Ember.

Deep Sea

South of the Brine Road leads to the Deep Sea. There is a small island with a swimmer who wants five Deep Sea Scales, found in the Deep Sea.

The Ocean is too rough to allow the player to surf any further, but there is a diving section, where the player can explore. The seaweed acts like tall grass, so players can have wild encounters. There are also static encounters with Mantines, Seakings, Kingdras, Lanturns and Gyarados. On the deeper levels, the use of Flash or Lantern is needed due to the darkness.

Togepi Island

  • See Togepi Island's section within Outbreaks for more info.

Togepi Island is an optional island that can be reached from the Deep Sea. From the Deep Sea’s entrance, the order of diving is: crevice, left, left. After that, the path is linear to swim up. On the island, there is a Shiny Stone of the far East.

Sapphire Cave

The next objective is to retrieve the Sapphire. The order of diving is: crevice, right, right. There will be a small corner isolated from a bigger room with the Sapphire on the ground.

To reach the Sapphire Cave, the player will need to follow this order: crevice, left, right, down, right. The Sapphire will react to the sealed entrance, and inside, Kyogre will be waiting. After the battle, the player will be warped outside the island with the swimmer who requested the Deep Sea Shells on Brine Road. If the player gives him his five Deep Sea Shell, she will be rewarded with the Scuba Gear, the HM Replacement Item for Dive.

Mineral Badge[]

Brine Road (East of the Old Shipwreck)

Back on Brine Road, the player can enter the Old Shipwreck and jump the gap, thanks to the Golbat Boots. On the Eastern side, there are four trainers to battle and Fisherman Tommy gives the player a Heart Scale after defeating him. There are items to grab as well: a Carbos, a HP Up, a Big Pearl. The path South to the Water Labyrinth is blocked by Corsolas, but the path North is accessible, which leads to Kin Island.

Kin Island

Kin Island has similar architecture then other Sevii Islands’ Towns. Additionally, Kin Island has:

  • TM114 Leech Life behind a cuttable tree.
  • A Hotel.
  • In the PokéCenter, Bebe wil give the other two Sinnoh starters to the player.
  • The Pokémon Appreciation Club, which changes Pokémon everyday, and trainers offer to battle the player. There is also a hiker who wants to see a Pokémon with the same types and will give a Nugget for it.

Bond Bridge

North of Kin Island is Bond Bridge, which is a forest with bananas to grab and four trainers to battle. Additionally, there is TM89 U-Turn, a stardust and an Elixir to grab. The path North-West leads to the Berry Forest.

Berry Forest

As soon as the player arrives, Jasmine is worried about her nephew and his friends who went camping and is too afraid to search the forest, so she asks the player to search for them. The path will eventually lead to a camper with a kid. When the player interacts with him, he says his friends went looking for wood for the fire and to go look for them in the forest. After finding them all, they are worried because there should only be six, but there are seven of them. After interacting with each of them, one of them reveals itself as a Zoroark who was using its Illusion ability to hide as a kid, and attacks the player.

After saving them, the kids leave back for Kin Island. There is TM85 Dream Eater on a table in the Camper, and Jasmine thanks the player for saving. As a reward, she offers the player to challenge her for the Mineral Badge on top of the Bond Bridge.

After defeating Jasmine, the player is awarded with the Mineral Badge and a Mareanie Doll. She also hints that Prof. Oak would be proud of seeing the player with all 16 badges of Kanto and Johto.

Mt. Silver[]

Pallet Town
In Prof. Oak Lab, both the rival and Cynthia are present. A discussion involving Space-Time distortions are occurring at Mt. Silver Peak, so all four agree that the three strongest trainers should go investigate together. Cynthia and the rival decide to go ahead and ask the player to follow them through from the Pokémon League Entrance gate.

Mt. Silver Base

At the Pokémon League Gate, the rival manages to convince the guard blocking access to Mt. Silver to let everyone go to Mt. Silver. On the way path, there is an Escape Rope and an Elixir to grab.

Mt. Silver

The cave within Mt. Silver is dark, so the use of Flash or the Lantern is needed. Furthermore, the player will need the moves Rock Smash, Strength, Surf and Waterfall, or their HM Replacement Items. The way up the stairs lead to a grass field, but the path is blocked until the player can use Rock Climb. Back at the entrance, there is an inner lake with waterfalls which the player can take to reach two deeper cave chambers. The first one also requires Rock Climb. On the way to the second one, there is a hidden PP Up by a stalagmite. In the room, the rival is waiting to challenge the player once more. After winning, he will reward her with HM10 Rock Climb.

West of where the rival arrived is a hidden Elixir by a stalagmite, and on the higher ground is an Escape Rope. The cave continues to the first cave from the inner lake, but on the other end. On the way down is a Reaper Cloth.

Back at the entrance and with Rock Climb, the player can now start climbing Mt. Silver. Up the stairs is a hidden Max Repel by the Stalagmite. Outside, by the grass field, there are items on the higher level: a Max Elixir and an Expert Belt. The first cave from the grass field leads to a Rare Candy, while the second one will give access to the next floor, with a hidden Max Repel by a stalagmite and a Max Revive in the corner.

This floor starts in a spiral to climb to the outer ring path, which is blocked by rocks at several locations. The player will need to keep going in the snow field and back in the cave to progress. There is a hidden Ultra Ball by a rock after reaching the outer ring.

The first time the player reaches outside to the snow field, the path splits into two. The path North leads to a dead-end, with several items: a hidden Escape Rope by a frozen rock, a Dire Hit, and a hidden Elixir by the rocks next to the Rare Candy.

The path South continues the climb towards the summit, with several items: a Rare Candy, a Hyper Potion, a Max Potion and a hidden Ether by a frozen rock.

At 4F, the cave is no longer dark. There is a hidden Hyper Potion by a stalagmite before climbing the stairs, where Cynthia blocks the player’s path. After defeating her, she will heal the player’s Pokémons.

Mt. Silver Summit

Outside of the cave is the summit, and the player will be slowed simply by the power the unknown Pokémon’s aura emits. Once the player arrives at the Pokémon, it is revealed to be a triple fusion of the Legendary Pokémons, Palkia, Dialga and Giratina, and it must be defeated.

  • Just like Zapmolcuno, this will be a 3vs1 battle and defeating each head is necessary to progress. Each head matches the type of its Deity Pokémon.

After defeating Paldiatina, it will split back into its original trio and run away in different directions. Finally, where Paldiatina was, a vortex will appear. Once the player interacts with it, it will transport the player three years into the future. Once the players take a few steps, Gold will be present on Mt. Silver Summit and challenges the player to a battle.

  • Save and heal your party either before or after taking the vortex, but before taking any steps. Gold’s party has the three Legendary Beasts of Johto.

After defeating Gold, the player is sent back into its own time, but into its room in Pallet Town, when walking downstairs, the player’s mother will give her a Shiny Charm.

End Game Content[]

Everything under this section is optional and targets completionist. It is assumed that players finished all Optional contents listed since the beginning before starting any of the points below.

Jirachi[]

  • This section assumes the players has seen at least 777 different Pokémons (fused and unfused).

The next time you sleep at the Hotel, you will have a dream sequence in Pallet Town. Once the player enters what should be Prof Oak Lab, Jirachi will ask the player to take a Pokéball, but all three will vanish, after which, Jirachi will ask the player to pick its strongest Pokémon to battle. The dream ends after the battle (win or lose), and Jirachi will automatically take the 6th place in the party, moving the Pokémon that was there into the Storage.

Rayquaza[]

  • This section assumes the player has already acquired Groudon and Kyogre.

Kin Island
In the North-Eastern house is an elderly man who talks about the legend of the Sky Pillar and it would reveal itself once someone has met both Kyogre and Groudon. After learning the player met with both of them, he wants her to follow him to the harbor, so they can go to the Sky Pillar together.

Sky Pillar

The player will need to use the Bike when in the Sky Pillar. The player cannot stop on any of the damaged tiles, or they will fall one floor.

  • If you got the Racing Bike from the quest, hold the run button to slow it down.

There is TM108 Sky Attack to grab if the player manages to fall from the end of the path down to the upper ground of the cavern. The rest of the Sky Pillar is a tower that involves driving the bike over portions of the damaged floor to reach the roof, where Rayquaza awaits. After the battle, the player will be warped back outside the cavern section, near the island’s dock.

Alien Spaceship[]

  • This assumes the player accepted the quest “Fallen Meteor” from Kin Island’s Hotel.

Bond Bridge
From the West side, the player can either walk or surf under the bridge, and on top of the waterfall, there are two agents with a strange object.

Route 20
On the beach from Fuchsia City to Route 19 is a female swimmer who reports to the player she saw a meteor that fell in the water, somewhere near Route 19 and Route 20. South-East of Seafoam Islands is a Diving spot, and when the water changes color, it means the player is near the object. Interacting with it will reward the player with a Spaceship Part.

Route 32
South of Violet City, not far from the intersection for the Ruins of Alph, can the object be seen.

Bond Bridge
Back to Bond Bridge where the agents are waiting, they use the impact points of the three meteors to triangulate the main ship’s location. He then asks the player to memorize these coordinates and asks the sailor at Cinnabar Island’s harbor to bring the player to the location.

Birth Island

The sailor will bring the player to the location, which is Birth Island. A strange object is in the center of the island, and when the player interacts with it, it will start to move in a spiral. Each time the player interacts with it, it will change its spiral path. After a few more times, Deoys will appear in the center of the island and can be challenged.

Optional Items - Corsolas[]

  • This assumes the player obtained Mareanie or Toxapex.

Mt. Ember
There is a tm50 overheat to grab, and scaring the Corsolas will grant quick access to the rest of Mt. Ember when using Teleport/Fly.

Kindle Road
In Kindle Road, next to the Battle Factory, are Corsolas blocking access to the bay. After scaring them off with the Mareanie Doll, the player can now swim in the bay, diving in the different location and grabbing several items, including TM86 Grass Knot.

Brine Road
On the Western side, they are Corsolas blocking a Sun Stone on a small island with the Scuba Gear swimmer. There is also a hidden Heart Scale by one of the rocks.

On the Eastern side, just North of the Old Shipwreck, are more Corsolas blocking TM18 Rain Dance.

Regigigas[]

On the South-East from Brine Road is path to the Water Labyrinth, which is blocked by Corsolas.

Water Labyrinth

The Water Labyrinth is another maze with strong water current, similar to Offshore Road. Players generally reach the South-East corner after a few trials and errors. Chrono Island is on the South-East, while Resort Gorgeous is on the North-East.

Resort Gorgeous

On the North-East corner of the Water Labyrinth is the Resort Gorgeous, which is an optional island. Inside resides Selphy, who loves to see fused Pokémon, and will reward the player when she sees it. Everyday, she will choose one fused Pokémon. The first prize is a Master Ball, and she will give new Master Balls every 10 prizes. The lesser prizes are a Rare Candy each time when she does not give a Master Ball.

  • Players building a Living PokéDex can use the PC to easily fuse the requested Pokémon, get the price, then unfuse it back in Storage.

Sealed Chamber

Within the Water Labyrinth is a diving spot, which leads to the Sealed Chamber. Inside are three bowls touching two of the three colors matching the types Steel, Rock and Ice. The player needs to place a Pokémon in each bowl to match the types touching the bowls.

  • West Bowl requires a Pokémon with both a Rock and a Steel type.
  • East Bowl requires a Pokémon with both an Ice and a Steel type.
  • Top Bowl requires a Pokémon with both a Rock and an Ice type.

Once all three Pokémons are in place, a door will open to a deeper chamber, where Regigigas will be. The player can take the Pokémons before leaving the room.

Genesect[]

  • If the players does not have a Teleport destination to Chrono Island, they can fly to Resort Gorgeous. From there, the rocks to the right have a clear path South to Chrono Island.
  • Otherwise, they have to cross the Water Labyrinth.

Chrono Island

Chrono Island has similar architecture then other Sevii Islands’ Towns. Additionally, Chrono Island has:

  • There is a Max Potion by the large patch of tall grass.
  • A lady sells Heart Scale for Walkthrough (15)5000 each.
  • Team Rocket has a warehouse located in the Southern portion of the island.

Rocket Warehouse

There are five Team Rocket grunts patrolling the warehouse, and as soon as one of them spot the player, the alarm is sound and all grunts rush towards the player.

In the Executive office is a scene with two Team Plasma grunt about a late transaction. After the scene, the player can defeat the Executive and interact with the switch to open the backroom, where a KlinKlang can be battled.

Once the player comes out, she overhears Team Plasma Grunts discussing their experiment and that they are about to leave on their motorboat to their lab. At the harbor, the sailor offers the player to follow them to their lab.

P2 Laboratory

The sailor drops the player at an island where Team Plasma stopped, with their lab, P2 Laboratory. There are three Team Plasma Grunts to battle, and all four Drives can be grabbed on the floor: Burn, Chill, Douse and Shock. Once they are all defeated, they will all run away.

In the backroom is a scientist who was taken hostage to work for Team Plasma. When the player interacts with the Incubating Vat, it opens and Genesect attacks. After the battle, the scientist explains to the player how to change the Genesect’s signature move, Techno Blast, with the drives.

The Creation Trio[]

Ice Mountains
In the Ice Mountains, there is a Hiker on a peak of a mountain which requires Rock Climb to get. He will reward the player with Climbing Gear, the HM Replacement Item.

Boon Island
Next to the Dream lady on top of the waterfall is a vortex for Dialga, which requires Rock Climb to get to.

Blackthorn City
Next to the tall grass near Union Cave is a higher ground that needs Rock Climb to reach the vortex for Palkia.

Route 4
Next to the entrance to Mt. Moon is a stair that can only be climbed using Rock Climb. On top is the vortex for Giratina.

Triple Fusions[]

  • This section assumes the player already caught Kyurem at the Lake of Rage and completed the events at Mt. Silver.

Colress can be found in Mt. Moon, fixing the old Triple-Fusion Machine from Team Rocket. The player needs to have all three Pokémons in its party, and they must be valid trios. Colress will then create an egg clone with the combined DNA.

Pokémon League Rematch[]

This section assumes the player already completed the events in Mt. Silver.

The player can challenge again the Elite Four. They will have the same party as the first time, but their Pokémons all gained about 20 levels. The same rule apply as the first time the player challenged the Elite Four, and the rival will be there as Acting Pokémon Champion. They will also use more Full Restores during their fight.

Vermillion’s Fighting Arena[]

  • This Section assumes the player already completed the events in Mt. Silver and finished the quest Building Materials.

In Vermillion City, the construction site is finished and the Fighting Arena is ready. Unfortunately, when the player enters, it is still empty, and the old man at the entrance suggests to convince previous Gym Leaders to come participate. Each Gym Leader will be located at the specific location, either in Kanto, Johto, the Sevii Islands, and at a specific part of the day (Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Night). Once a Gym Leader has been convinced to join the Fighting Arena, the player will have the option for a rematch once a day, and they will have a full 6-party team of around early-70s (late-70s on Hard), for the Kanto ones, and mid-80s (early-90s for Hard) for the Johto ones.

  • See Gym Leader rematches for more info.
  • After defeating all sixteen Gym Leaders, challenging the Elite Four again will raise their level again by about 15 levels.

Pokédex Completion[]

In Celadon City, one of the condominium has the Game Dev, and for catching all 470 Base Pokémons, he will reward the player with the Magic Boots, which will give a Debug Mode to the player.

  • As of August 2023, the Staff announced there will be new Pokémons joining Pokémon Infinite Fusion, so in the future, the number of Base Pokémons needed to get the Magic Boots will most likely rise to the new amount (expect around 440-450 for the new total).
