What to Eat with Hummus: The Ultimate Guide (31)

As a Pasta Sauce

We’re going to start with an unusual one because that’s how we roll. Did you know that hummus makes a delicious addition to pasta sauce? It makes sense when you stop and think about it: You want the pasta to meld to whatever sauce you put on it, and hummus has such a lovely, creamy, thick texture, it combines with whatever else you toss in there to create *chef’s kiss*. We have some great recipes to get started.

Creamy Beet Pasta:

The blend of beets, hummus, and pasta is oh-so-delicious. We think you’ll be as much of a fan as well.

In Soups

If you’ve ever made soup from scratch before, you know it can be tough to get deep level of flavor – the base layer that grounds the rest of the spices. We’ll let you in on a little secret: Hummus solves that. It not only adds the ground floor, base layer of flavor, it thickens soups and makes it taste so incredibly smooth and rich you’ll never not add hummus to your soup again. Here are a few of our favorite recipes featuring hummus:

Thai Coconut Curry Pumpkin Soup:

Talk about oodles of flavor. Our hummus gives this soup thickness and the warm spiciness you crave with pumpkin.

Should hummus be warm or cold?

There’s much debate over how you should enjoy your hummus (hot or cold). It really comes down to preference. Traditionally, hummus is served warm, with pita bread. But, it’s also important to keep food safety in mind. If you warm up hummus, or leave it out of the refrigerator for awhile, be sure to eat it all – you don’t want to put it back in the refrigerator.

What is usually served with hummus?

What to Eat Hummus With:

We’ve covered some recipes, but we need to get back to basics, sometimes. Here are a few questions we often get:

  • “What to eat with hummus dip?”
  • “What to have with hummus?”
  • “What’s good with hummus?”
  • “What to eat hummus dip with?”
  • “What to eat hummus with?
  • “What are some healthy things to eat with hummus?”

The best answer to this is: Get creative! What foods do you normally eat? Try swapping out your normal sauce with our yummy dip, and let your taste buds determine which one is better. Some of the best foods to eat with hummus are the ones that are unlikely:

Bread

Nothing is dreamier than a good loaf of bread (crusty on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside) dipped in your favorite hummus. Yum.

Vegetables

Carrots, celery, green and red bell peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, you name it – can be dipped. It’s a great way to add veggies to your diet without getting bored.

Crackers & Chips

Crackers and chips are a great thing to dip in hummus. The crunchiness adds a contrast to the creaminess of hummus. Additionally, it dresses up healthy grains as well. Try using a tasty flavor on your sandwich, instead of traditional mayo. Or, just dip your wholegrain chips or pita bread in it for a great snack.

Fruit

Fruit is an excellent choice when you’re considering what to eat with hummus. Apples, pears, strawberries, and firmer fruits dip well!

In Eggs

Adding hummus (especially a flavored one) to your scrambled eggs instantly elevates them. They’ll have your brunch guests oohing and ah-hing. Hard boiled eggs? Mix it with one of our spicy flavors, and you’ve got a delicious take on egg salad.

As a Marinade

Using hummus as a marinade is a fantastic way to add flavor to any cut of meat. Just choose your favorite flavor, add some olive oil and any other flavors you want, and let it marinade for oodles of flavor.

Did we get them all? What are your favorite ways to eat hummus?

As one of the rising stars of the food world, humus has been increasingly talked about, experimented with, and used outside of traditional roles. There seems to be no limit to what tastes good with hummus! For even more mouth-watering ideas, check out these articles in BON APPETIT, SHAPE MAGAZINE, EPICURIOUS, and THE FOOD NETWORK. Between the amazing ideas on Instagram and at these publications, there is no shortage of ideas about what to eat with hummus.

Try Our Hummus!
