What is an honors Convocation? ›

Honors Convocation is a prestigious ceremony that recognizes exemplary students who have excelled in academics, co-curricular activities, community service, and leadership. This ceremony celebrates the university values, academic quality, and student service.

University convocation refers to a celebratory ceremony where degrees are conferred upon a graduating class. The school's president, provost and faculty members are dressed in regalia and students receive their academic hoods when on stage. Once graduates are hooded and cross the stage, they have officially graduated.

Every year, the College holds an Awards Convocation to recognize outstanding merit and achievement among students and faculty members.

Business casual/professional attire is strongly recommended. Caps and gowns are reserved for commencement exercises, but we welcome you to wear any cords or stoles obtained for commencement. Are there stoles specific for Honors Convocation? There are no stole or honors cords specifically for Honors Convocation.
