Fruiting blocks can be stored for up to 4 weeks or until you see mushrooms beginning to grow in the bag. Store them at room temperature away from direct sunlight. No refrigeration is necessary. Note: Shiitake blocks can only be stored until the block turns dark brown, at which time they must be used.
How long can I store spawn bags? ›
Sawdust spawn can be stored for up to 3 months if refrigerated. Leaving spawn at room temperature for too long can result in mushroom growth inside of the bag which can affect the way the spawn handles in tools, plus there may be some vigor loss.
Why is my North Spore not growing? ›
If your mushroom block seems dry and hasn't produced any mushrooms yet, try using a humidity tent. Take a trash bag or other large loose bag and cut lots of ½” holes throughout - mushrooms need fresh air to form correctly! Drape the bag over your block and mist the inside of the bag every day.

To stimulate another mushroom flush, the blocks need to be rehydrated. Do this by soaking them in cold water for a minimum of 6 hours. The dried blocks are buoyant, so keep them submerged with something heavy. The block should feel heavier (about 4 lbs) after soaking.
