Ricordo ancora il disprezzo di cui una mia amica venne amorevolmente ricoperta quando scoprimmo che tagliava la pasta con il coltello prima di mangiare.

Le stesse considerazioni dovrebbero essere fatte per i cucchiai, che, abbiamo già detto, non dovrebbero mai essere usati per gli spaghetti. Alcuni trovano che arrotolare gli spaghetti nel cucchiaio sia più elegante, ma non c’è niente di più lontano dalla verità: l’unico modo ragionevole di mangiare gli spaghetti è prenderne una piccola quantità con la forchetta – qualcosa tipo 4 o 5 spaghetti, dice un articolo pubblicato online sulla versione italiana de La Cucina Italiana – poi arrotolarli ordinatamente, evitando di avere spaghetti sciolti che pendono in fondo alla forchetta, e infine portarli alla bocca.
