Hotel Stays
Each time you stay at an MGM Resorts property, you earn MGM Rewards. Points are earned based on your spending at properties, including money you spend on dining, entertainment, spa purchases and other qualified spending while you’re a guest at MGM properties.
Earning as a Hotel Guest
Every dollar spent on eligible hotel folio charges—most spending charged directly to your room—will earn 1 MGM Rewards point and 4 Tier Credits. The money you spend on attraction tickets (for example, entrances to shows like O or Blue Man Group) as well as any participating dining outlet, spa or salon services and cabana rentals, also qualifies you to earn MGM Rewards points and Tier Credits—provided you charge them to your room.
Point redemptions are ineligible to earn any kind of rewards. Taxes, gratuities and alcohol purchases at select locations are also ineligible to earn rewards.
Earning for Nonhotel Guests
If you make purchases at participating food and beverage outlets while not staying at an MGM property, you can still earn both 1 MGM Reward point and 4 Tier Credits per dollar spent, as long as you present your MGM Rewards card. If you spend any money on entertainment tickets, spa or salon purchases, cabana reservations, retail purchases or wedding services, you will not be able to earn any MGM Reward points; however, you will continue to earn 4 Tier Credits for every dollar spent.
Earning on Gaming
The money you spend gaming at MGM casinos will also help you earn MGM Rewards points and Tier Credits; however, the earning rates vary depending on game type, average bet and length of play.
Elite Status
On top of earning MGM Rewards for your stays, dining and more, every dollar you spend on hotel stays, dining, slots, table games and more with MGM will help you earn Tier Credits toward your elite status within the program. MGM uses a calendar year as a qualification period, so you have a full calendar year to earn your status, and you will enjoy your benefits for the remainder of said year and the next.
The program has five tiers, each with its own set of increasing benefits as you progress through it.
- Sapphire. Earned by simply signing up
- Pearl. Earned once you accumulate 20,000 Tier Credits within a calendar year
- Gold. Earned once you accumulate 75,000 Tier Credits within a calendar year
- Platinum. Earned once you accumulate 200,000 Tier Credits within a calendar year
- NOIR. By invite only
Once you have worked your way up the elite status ladder, you will enjoy perks for each tier, including:
- Sapphire. Ability to earn MGM Rewards Points when you game, dine or stay at an MGM property, as well as access to members-only savings of up to 15% when booking stays directly with MGM
- Pearl. Includes all benefits of Sapphire, plus a 10% bonus on Slot Dollars you earned playing slots, video poker and video lottery terminals at all MGM Rewards destinations, complimentary self-parking and free tickets to select MGM Rewards concerts in Las Vegas
- Gold. All the benefits from Pearl, plus waived resort fees, $100 Tier Status Dining Credit, free enhanced room upgrades, priority check-in at hotels and dedicated line at restaurants, as well as complimentary valet parking at select MGM Rewards destinations
- Platinum. Includes all perks from Gold, in addition to late checkout at 4 p.m., a $200 Tier Status Dining Credit, an annual suite upgrade in Las Vegas, a $600 air travel credit when flying to Las Vegas, as well as a complimentary cruise on Royal Caribbean or Celebrity Cruises
- NOIR. Everything from Platinum plus a $1,200 air travel credit when flying to Las Vegas, a $500 Tier Status Dining Credit, a complimentary cruise with balcony on Royal Caribbean or Celebrity Cruises and complimentary transportation to and from the airport to the hotel
MGM Rewards members who have Gold status or above can tier match with their Marriott Bonvoy memberships and receive reciprocal benefits. You can only match from MGM into a Marriott tier, you cannot match from Marriott into an MGM status. Here’s how the matches work:
- MGM Rewards Gold to Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite
- MGM Rewards Platinum to Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite
- MGM Rewards NOIR to Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite
*Initial tier level status match and benefits terms valid through December 31, 2024.
In addition, MGM Rewards regularly offers status matches to elite members of other programs to tempt them into switching their loyalty to MGM. You can visit the status match website to see all current opportunities and if you qualify. Note that even if you are granted a specific tier based on a status match, you will only have access to some of the benefits you would receive if you had actually earned status in the program.
