Step-by-Step Recipe Directions

Heat a large pot, or Dutch oven, over medium heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onion.

  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 pound Ground Beef (lean) Italian sausage or ground turkey will also work
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 28 ounces Crushed Tomatoes canned
  • 4 cups Beef Broth vegetable or chicken broth can be used
  • 8 ounces Tomato Sauce canned
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Basil dried
  • ½ teaspoon Salt or more to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon Pepper or more to taste
  • 8 ounces Lasagna Noodles broken into pieces
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese grated
  • ½ cup Ricotta Cheese for garnish (optional)
  • Fresh Basil or Parsley for garnish optional
