Can I purchase a gift card for a cooking class?

Yes! All of our gift cards can be used towards online and in-store cooking classes. Our e-gift cards are perfect last-minute presents.

Online Classes

What is the cost of an online class?

Our online classes start at just $29 per household, so you can have friends and family in your kitchen at no additional cost.

How long are classes?

Online classes are 1 ½ to 2 hours in length unless otherwise noted.

What is the format of online classes?

Online classes are given real-time via Zoom (classes are shown in Eastern Time). You’ll need to download your prep packet with an ingredient list beforehand, so you have time to assemble all the necessary tools and ingredients. Before class begins, you’ll need to have Zoom installed on your tablet or laptop (you can download it here). Set up your laptop or tablet in the kitchen for easy viewing while you cook. Every class is live, so you can ask your instructor questions as you go. At the end of the class, you’ll have a delicious meal to enjoy.

How do I register for a class?

Enter the number of seats you wish to reserve in the "Seats" box and click the "Book Now" button. Then enter the name, email and phone number for each attendee. Finalize payment via your shopping cart.

How do I cancel a cooking class?

Our cooking classes may be cancelled by calling our customer service team at 317-559-2041 during normal business hours. We kindly request you give us at least 48 hours’ notice.

In-Store Classes

What is the cost of an in-store class?

Our in-store classes start at $69 per person; prices vary depending upon the type of class.
Please note: Class prices can vary by location due to regional cost variations.

How long are classes?

In-store classes are 2 to 2½ hours in length unless otherwise noted.

What is the format of your classes?

Classes are hands-on and full participation. Students practice techniques demonstrated by our instructors and prepare menu items.

What can I expect at a Sur La Table cooking class?

Our in-store cooking classes take place at select Sur La Table locations. We’ve built kitchens designed specifically to be a learning environment. You’ll have a workstation equipped with the tools and ingredients you’ll need for each recipe, and you’ll taste a generous helping of everything you make. We will also provide you with recipes and "at home" instructions for all the menu items.

Class attendees will work together in groups of up to four at shared workstations. If you attend a class with a guest, you are welcome to share with that person.

What are you doing to keep your cooking classes safe?

Sur La Table takes keeping our customers and store teams healthy very seriously. Here are some of the extra steps we are taking to create a safe class experience:

We are closely following CDC and local public health orders and guidelines.

We have increased the frequency of cleaning with disinfectants throughout our stores and kitchens, particularly high-touch surfaces.

We have strict safety and health protocols in place for our employees.

How do I register for a class?

What should I wear?

We will provide you with an apron, but we recommend wearing casual clothes that you don’t mind getting a little bit messy in. We ask that you wear flat comfortable shoes. Please do not wear open-toed shoes or sandals. Please pull long hair back. Unless required by local ordinance, face masks are optional for employees or customers.

Do you offer private cooking classes?

Yes, we offer in-store and online private cooking classes. Visit our private events page for the details and a few sample menus.

Do you tip the instructor?

Tipping is not required for any of our in-store or online cooking classes.

Can I send my child to an adult cooking class?

No. Age requirements are posted for each class on the class detail page. Most classes are ages 14 and up. Minors must be accompanied by a paying adult. Some classes are restricted to 18 and up and will be noted on the class detail page.

What if I need to cancel my class?

We understand that sometimes class cancellations are necessary, and this policy describes what happens in the event of a cancellation.

For cancellations made up to 48 hours before the schedule start time of a class, Sur La Table will refund your class fee in full back to the original form of payment. For cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled start of a class, we are not able to offer any refunds or in-store credit.

(Cancellations or changes can be made (1) in person in at the location of the culinary class or (2) through our toll-free number during normal business hours, by calling 317-559-2041 and speaking directly to a Sur La Table representative. We cannot accept or honor cancellations made by email or left on voicemail. When we cancel a class due to inclement weather, or other circ*mstances beyond our control (e.g., power outages, facility issues, etc.), we will endeavor to contact you by email or telephone with as much notice as possible and issue a full refund to the original form of payment (or, if you prefer, issue you a refund in the form of a Sur La Table gift card). However, if we do not affirmatively cancel a class by email or telephone and you are unable to attend, our standard cancellation policy applies. Please note that Sur La Table reserves the right to modify class menus at any time due to ingredient availability or seasonality.)

What if I'm sick?

If for any reason you're not feeling well enough to cook on your class day, it's not a problem. We’ve modified our cancellation policy to be more flexible and will help you cancel. Please contact our customer service 317-559-2041.
