After she announced her plans to close her restaurant two months prior, Lisa Vanderpump's restaurant Pump closed its doors for the final time on July 5, 2023. Following the news of the restaurant's final closure, many wanted to better understand why Lisa had decided to walk away from her restaurant, which was one of the backbones of her Bravo show Vanderpump Rules.

Lisa had been running Pump for 10 years, and longtime fans likely remember seeing its opening in the early days of VPR. For years, it was a big part of the show. And now, appropriately, viewers saw its closing during Season 11.

Why did the Pump restaurant close?
Pump, a hot spot in West Hollywood, was not the reason for Vanderpump Rules, but it became another fixture for events and various storylines.
"It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that the lease at Pump Restaurant is expiring, and we will be closing its doors on July 5th, after 10 years of beautiful evenings under our olive trees,” Lisa told Today in May 2023.
Apparently, the rising cost of the rent for the property was a key factor in Lisa's decision to close the restaurant down.
“While we have loved our time operating Pump, to take on another 10-year lease with a huge increase in rent by the landlords, is not something we are ready to commit to. After successfully running 37+ establishments for many years, this type of rent is untenable,” she said.
Lisa shared a similar sentiment in Season 11 of VPR. She explained on the show that the rising costs in keeping Pump open led to her decision to close its doors for good. But, never fear, because the restaurant and reality TV mogul always has something new going on.

Pump may be closed, but Lisa used her statement as a chance to remind fans of Vanderpump Rules that she also operates two other restaurants in Los Angeles. SUR, which is in West Hollywood, and TomTom, which is a collaboration with Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval.
"We look forward to welcoming you all to TomTom & Sur in the months following! Thank you for the past decade of support, we have loved our staff, our patrons and our time together," the statement said.
This is the second restaurant Lisa Vanderpump has closed in recent years.
Pump's closure comes just a few years after Lisa announced that she would be closing Villa Blanca, her restaurant in Beverly Hills that had been open for 11 years and was featured on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Lisa also has two restaurants in Las Vegas, though, so she's definitely not leaving the world of high-end restaurants behind just yet.
In a post on Instagram, Lisa memorialized the end of Pump, but also looked toward the future.
"End of an era, but the start of something new. Thank you @pumprestaurant for the decade of Pumptinis, incredible staff, and amazing memories! Now back to work on @wolfbyvanderpump Lake Tahoe!" She wrote in the July 2023 post, which was accompanied by an image of her in the restaurant.

Lisa Vanderpump also has another reality show.
Perhaps with Pump closing andSeason 11 of VPR focusing so much attention on Scandoval, Lisa found herself with some extra free time. Because she has a brand new reality show about ridiculously good looking restaurant staffers, Vanderpump Villa. Although there is no release date yet, it's slated for a spring 2024 premiere on Hulu.
Thanks to the success of Lisa's show, her restaurants have become tourist attractions in and of themselves, as guests visit more in the hopes of spotting someone famous than with the goal of actually tasting any delicious food. Pump may be gone, but Vanderpump Rules lives on.

"After 10 years, we've decided to close Pump. It's bittersweet, but the rent's going up, and it's going to be exponentially more expensive, and Ken's looking to retire," she said. "If we take it on for another ten years, that means Ken will still be stomping the pavements of West Hollywood when he'll be in his 80s."

Vanderpump's upscale Villa Blanca closed in 2020 after failing to find a suitable buyer for years. Vanderpump was also sued for $100,000 in 2021 by West Central Produce for non-payment of delivered goods to restaurants Pump and Villa Blanca.
“Another 10-year lease with a huge increase in rent by the landlords, is not something we are ready to commit to,” she confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE at the time. With an uncertain future, the restaurant closed on July 5, which was shown in an earlier episode of this season of the Bravo show.
Lisa Vanderpump currently owns six restaurants in total. There are the four existing restaurants: SUR Restaurant and Lounge, TomTom Restaurant and Bar, Vanderpump co*cktail Garden, and Vanderpump à Paris. There are also two more — Pinky's by Vanderpump and Wolf by Vanderpump — slated to open by summer 2024.
TomTom, of course, is her joint venture with Sandoval and Tom Schwartz. Together the two Toms own 5% of the business, while Lisa and her partners own the rest. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum was forced to close Pump in July 2023 due to issues with her landlord.
