Speaking of framing: If you want the best value, ask artists who belong to local art organizations who they use. There are usually one to two framers in each large city that offer great value that the artists use regularly - and these are rarely the stores you think of and see ads for. For instance, in our city, there are two framing services that are not on the popular main streets. Neither have websites or FB pages, and contact is only by phone (one has email, the other doesn't). But both stay busy all year framing for the local art shows, their prices are great, and frames are beautiful. Business seems to be by word of mouth as I have never seen an ad anywhere for them! Since most art organizations discourage ornate frames, they tend to offer contemporary gallery-quality framing (simple black frames, natural or maple, with single or double mats etc).
